MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Take direction from management team and implement the sourcing strategy, best aligned to the Asian Sourcing office annual goals and corporate strategies. Support and work with merchandising, private brand management, engineering/quality and supply chain teams to successfully manage the category and daily operation regarding sales growth, NPI, product line optimization; supplier management including cost management, quality management, lead time & OTD etc., supplier capability utilization and expansion, etc.
- Work proactively and independently by managing supplier, category, and project towards business growth against corporate goal.
- Identify business opportunity by monitoring market performance or trend and being recommended by supplier who is key market player; and communicate with Category Merchant (CM) and Exclusive Brand (EB) manager to verify and confirm opportunity.
- Work as project leader/coordinator to coordinate with CM/EB to develop strategy, project timeline; and work on RFQ/RFP, quotation, cost comparison, proposal for supplier selection and risk identification.
- Lead project kick-off with functional teams according to the process, and keep all teams on same page on pursuing a project.
- Follow corporate procedure on working on a project, take ownership and respect ownership of other departments.
- Communicate and negotiate with vendor on supplier agreement, product liability insurance, business terms, marketing supporting, legal risk and so on which should be align with business, operations, quality, and merchandising needs/strategies.
- Prepare submission package/documents for a project and follow up with related groups until first shipment was correctly and timely completed.
- Cooperate closely with buyer & logistics/supply chain to monitor, drive and contribute to shorten L/T and consistent OTD. Maintain expected/targeted service level from existing suppliers.
- Review supplier quality performance and work with QA on shooting issues, improving capability, developing resolution; to support the business growth by keeping supplier stay at stable quality level.
- Manage product cost and seek cost savings and/or VE opportunities, and monitor exchange rate, commodity price, and competition situation and negotiate with supplier, to support keeping our product offering competitive.
- Develop and maintain good supplier relationships, take lead in business review with key supplier(s). Keep supplier as consistent support to develop and growth our business; and have win-win with key supplier(s).
- Global Sourcing office collaboration - cooperate with GSO team on developing supplier and project in GSO countries.
- Able to see whole picture and mind of strategic activities, while also understanding the transactional nature of a category and sourcing trends.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & Competencies
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma in English or Engineering is preferred.
- 5 years of sourcing and procurement or product manager experience in area of US based overseas buying office, manufacturing, professional trading, etc. Supervision experience is preferred.
- Sufficient knowledge of Hardware/Lock/Tools/Window covering products (residential and commercial) and market players in US market, and difference of different market segments especially MRO, good understanding of the supplier landscape in Asia
- Sufficient knowledge in price negotiation, cost analysis, quality system and logistics & supply chain.
- Good communication and project management skills.
- Comfortable and confident in manage big supplier relationship and developing strategy towards business/sales growth.
- English: Fluent written and spoken skill is necessary
- Computer operation: Excel (Pivot Table etc.), word, Power Point (Charts etc.), PDF, Email (Webmail, Outlook etc.), Internet. ERP, Bridge, Cost Comparison, Data Warehouse, etc.
- Good negotiator and project leader, strong problem-solving ability, ability to work with cross functional teams
- Strong learning ability and willingness.
- Extroversive, Stable, Mature, Passionate and Sociable and Clear mind personality
