POSITION PURPOSE
The Sr. Product Engineer will be responsible for Driving re-engineering programs and new product introductions in addition to leading factory validation, product assessments, tests, and inspections in coordination with Atlanta SSC Product Engineering team, suppliers, sourcing leaders and service providers. Integrate all available supplier, factory and product data and analyze metrics and reporting to effectively monitor quality, service, cost, and risk components of each process. Monitor the implementation of continuous improvement and corrective/preventative action plans throughout each process.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.40% Assign assessment, test, evaluate, verify and report compliance with product definition, specifications feature sets and operation of vendor and factory products for re-engineering and new product introductions
2.15% Support PLR and OTB activities by providing direction to suppliers regarding product requirements, expected testing and training in THD onboarding processes.
3.15% Support new product development activities acting as liaison between strategic suppliers/sourcing teams and Atlanta SSC associates and representing manufacturing interests during product development.
4.10% Evaluate and document cost / benefit tradeoffs between prevention, detection, and failure response activities. Write technical documentation for engineering product planning.
5.10% Inspection of work to service providers, based on pre determined selection criteria, a review of all technical requirements, and service provider capabilities. Develop / validate test and inspection plans designed to assure quality of factories and products based on a review of all applicable safety standards (such as American National Standards Institute or Underwriters Laboratories), industry trends, and historical performance.
6.10% Analyze and interpret assessment, test, and inspection results, determine root cause of failures and non-conformities, and drive continuous improvement and best practices.
NATURE AND SCOPE
- Typically reports to Sr. Mgr or Mgr. Product Engineering
No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
-Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
-Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must pass the Background Check
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
EDUCATION REQUIRED
-5 YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelors degree in engineering or other technical field of study such as chemistry or material science
-International operations experience
-Computer skills sufficient to retrieve, manipulate and analyze data
-Continuous improvement program development and execution (six sigma or Lean)
