Head of Ocean Freight
Job Responsibilities:

-Reporting to Business Unit Manager, he/she will be responsible to lead a team of 50 members and to ensure smooth operations, both in compliance and corporate guidelines to grow business
-Owner of Ocean Freight Department, and accountable for the smooth and effective process flow, interfaces and adherence to the defined quality standards
-Develop and define a long-term network plan which fits the network and the Panalpina standard requirements
-Define key suppliers together with Procurement and Business Unit Shenzhen, establish long-term relationships and negotiate long-term contracts
-Ensures smooth communication with other departments and the Business Unit Manager Shenzhen and represent the own department towards internal and external stakeholders
-Support the substitutes to supervise and optimize the capacity utilization of the existing network in respect of operational and financial aspects of the Company’s interests perspective
-Forecast and analyses volume and capacity on a Business Unit level of own department
-Establish and review procedures and manuals for all entities within the Ocean Freight Department
-Runs defined projects within the own department cost consciously and according to the defined timeline
-Designs, implements and monitors service performance quality reporting within the own department (Key Performance Indicators (KPI) incl. quality control) and initiates corrective measures
-Support, review and control overall cost as well as giving instructions to issue invoices
-Manage vendor / subcontractor management
-Coach, train and provide guidelines on employees’ performance and matters



Job Requirements:

-At least 10 years of ocean freight operational experience in global freight forwarding / logistics company
-Proven experience to manage a Ocean Freight Operations to own profitability and issue resolution is considered a plus
-Strong Ocean Freight, Customer Service and or Operation exposure is a must
-Ability to manage operation and control cost / resources within own entity, work close with Business Units Managers and also to influence internal and external stakeholders
-Able to work in a diverse environment and cultures
-Good communication, leadership and people management
-Degree holder in Business Administration / Logistics or equivalent
