Detailed Job Description
Job title: Intellectual Property Consultant
Reporting to: Managing Director
Salary: To be negotiated based on qualifications and experience
Hours: Full-time
Location: Joy Wing Mau head office, Shenzhen
Purpose of the position
To introduce, develop and commercialise new and innovative fruit varieties that have been bred around the world.
Responsibilities & duties
? Assist and coordinate the introduction of new fruit varieties.
? Assist with the filing of Plant Breeder Rights and supply of plant material for DUS (distinctness, uniformity and stability) testing.
? Organise and arrange the delivery of test trees.
? Assist with the establishment and development of test and budwood repository blocks.
? Visit, monitor and record variety characteristics and performance on grower/university/research institutes test sites.
? Organise and supply fruit samples for consumer and market feedback
? Maintain and update Hertha database records.
? Coordinate and organise grower field-days and work with industry consultant.
? Assist and formulate business proposals
? Complete and record grower/nurseryman/marketer agreements.
? Monitor and report on market and competitor’s activities and provide relevant reports and information.
? Assist and coordinate internal travel for company management and overseas visitors.
? Familiarise and visit overseas plant breeders
? Investigate and report on industry statistics, growing regions and market trends.
? Assist with oral and written translation-Chinese/English
? Attend industry workshops, conferences, field-days etc.to improve industry knowledge and better understand the company’s business.
Academic & trades qualifications
Essential qualifications
? University degree in Horticulture
? Need to be able to use EXCEL & WORD confidently, Internet and email, to work independently. Competency in written and spoken English
Work experience & skills
Essential experience
? Minimum two year’s general horticulture experience, i.e. growing, marketing promotion, selling.
Personal qualities
? Self-driven, reliable, tolerant and determined. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel regularly.
Relationships
? This position will be trained by the Managing Director with ongoing support and supervision.
