Honeywell Smart Energy is a Global Business Enterprise (GBE) part of Honeywell Building & Technologies (HBT). Honeywell Smart Energy is a leading provider of smart metering solution which include residential, commercial and industrial gas and electric meters, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems,software and data analytics solutions.
The Engineering Manager is responsible to lead the local engineering R&D team for smart meter products developmentby working closely with marketing and other cross function teams. The products will expand Honeywell current portfolio to support business grow in Asia Pacific and other high growth regions. The position will also be responsible for program planning and execution, resource management and leadership.
Reporting to HBT China Smart EnergyEngineering Director, and matrix report to HGR Engineering Director.
Responsibilities:
* Grow and manage an engineering R&D teams. Develop new products for Smart Energy business. Ensure key objectives are met including product quality, time to market, project cost. Drives innovative products that are compliant to the needs of the business.
* Manage R&D team to working closely with product marketing in Smart Energy business to expand product portfolio to grow the business in Asia Pacific and other regionwith new products and offering.
* Support product marketing and other function teams including regional Sales on meter tender specification analyzing, competitor analysis, conducing VOC/OVOC, engineering design, solution development, etc.
* Lead R&D engineers in completion of value engineering projects to achieve cost savings targets.
* Working with other Smart Energy engineering team across regions to get alignment on technology reuse, platforming development and technology roadmap.
* Working with 3rd party partner for new product development, manage and deliver the products with high quality.
*Provide coaching, mentoring and development of engineering talents. Identifying training needs and development to improve engineering and product knowledge and capability
*Working closely with project manager for on time, on spec delivery. Conduct Technical Risk Reviews when required.
Qualification:
* Bachelor or above degree in electrical, computer engineering is required.
* Minimum 8 years of R&D experience and at least 3 years in a manager/team leadership position.
*R&D working experiences in metering products and system solutions, with full life cycle product development experiences.
* Engineering leadership experience to manage and develop team.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of smart meter products and business, technology trend is plus.
* Well-developed project management skills. A proven track record of delivery and success in technical solution design and in the areas of problem solving and process change/ improvement
* Ability to work effectively across a large geographic spread and in aninternational engineering team environment
* Strong communication skills to working effectively with marketing and other functions team
* Ability to think strategically in identifying future trends and applying process improvement tools to solve business problems
* Fluent written and oral English ability is plus.
