Purpose of Position
To be continually sympathetic to client and market needs thereby promoting opportunities for BSI to address and service those needs though current and future products.
Focus on clients need to increase client satisfaction
To carry out the witness testing and finish the reports.
To manage certification projects and provide technical support to related parties.
To address client's needs in the provision of technically complex services which maintains BSI's reputation for service excellence
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
? Manage all applications ensuring none are older than 3 months
? Provide technical advice / information for sales, marketing and billing to help them deliver business
? Populate BSI Asia Pac information systems (PG and PDMS currently) as appropriate with data
? Use the latest protocols and procedures for Kitemark®, CE marking and / or other certification products and ensure the integrity of these products in your use
? Responsible for checking the 'Best-Fit Codes' required for the quality system assessments are employed
? Act as a technical expert as part of an assessment/evaluation team
? Assist to develop local resource to deliver work
? Respond to the implementation of change, new systems and regimes
? Maintain a high level of awareness of the changes in the standards field especially as regarding the voluntary and mandatory certification market in Asia and internationally. Analyse these changes and determine the impact they will have on BSI and advise the appropriate action
? Assist to audit and maintain sub contractor approval in conjunction with Compliance and Risk
? Represent BSI, as appropriately in industry, technical and other groups
? Perform the witness testing at manufacturer or partner lab and write the reports

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Concepts and intent of product certification, service orientation, knowledge of business processes and the application of quality management standards for a sector(s), awareness of assessment methodology and product evaluation techniques. Knowledge of electrical products safety and testing process, awareness of lab working process and operation requirements for IECEE CB Scheme, NRTL and GS certification. Conceptual and analytical thinking, efficiency and results orientation, Relationship building. Computer literate and Client focused.
Professional Expertise
Technical understanding of clients, industry and products, evaluation techniques, knowledge of testing and equipment calibration (a minimum of 3 year experiences at a test house or certification body), gained through degree level technical qualification and / or extensive industrial experience and / or training by BSI in the management of specific certification products.
Background Information (e.g. relationships / environments / complexities / unique factors to role)
The project engineer will work with clients who require technically complex products to be evaluated. The Project Engineer will take responsibility for technically complex certification recommendations and the delivery of products. Knowledge of technical aspects of industry is therefore essential in addition to the client-handling and evaluation skills required.
