Job Description
The functions of the ITC Analytical, Metrology Development & Reliability Lab (AMRL) include providing expertise in FPC, PCB, & PCBA failure analysis, evaluation of new and existing materials, developing new measurement techniques, reliability testing, new technology qualifications as well as support lab services specific to sustaining the Multek ZH factory . These services are available to all Multek facilities worldwide. The AMRL Lab is a corporate department where the Sr. Manager reports to the CTO.
The Sr. Manager must ensure and maintain the highest level of standards for carrying out testing. He/She is also the curator of all of the equipment. Specifically, it is his/her responsibility to keep the test equipment well maintained while ensuring breakdowns are kept to an absolute minimum. He/She also needs to make sure that new test
methodology is introduced to the lab for enhancing / improving analytical capabilities.
The Sr. Manager must have a strong knowledge of use, function and applications of all of the AMRL equipment.

SEM/EDX, FT-IR Microscopy, IST, DSC, TMA, TGA, Rheometer, Climate Chambers, SERA, CAF Chamber, Wetting Balance, X-ray inspection, reflow oven.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIONS
1. Develop and maintain a reputation for the AMRL laboratory that conveys the highest level of quality, excellence, professionalism, and credibility that is expected of a customer trusted laboratory.
2. Manage functions typical of a laboratory including staffing, training, staff development, scheduling, maintaining quality systems, maintenance, and calibrations.
3. Ability to troubleshoot, maintenance, and possibly repair laboratory equipment.
4. Identify and procure new equipment to continually strengthen Multek’s analytical, technical, and reliability capabilities.
5. Ensure that customers understand and see first-hand how the AMRL Laboratory differentiates Multek from competing PCB suppliers.
6. Address technical inquiries regarding PCB testing and test methods.
7. Organize and liaise testing that requires service from an external source.
8. Develop and maintain relationships with local equipment suppliers, distributors, and service engineers.
9. Develop and maintain relationships with labs in the region, other world club testing labs and labs at other Multek facilities as well as relationships with universities or consortia.
10. Document professionally the findings of all analytical analysis done (English).
11. Be a trusted advisor to the quality department as a key liaison for customer “quality root cause analysis”
12. Maintain and expand the Lab database for predictive analytics to be used to enhance Multek’s technology in the factory and during development of new technology.
13. Author and Publish papers in peer reviewed publications as well as present at leading conferences, representing Multek
14. Conduct AMRL tours to customers and suppliers.
15. Working in lockset with the Multek ITC lab in Silicon Valley and Multek Flexible Circuits lab in Minnesota.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* Possesses a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or of similar nature. Ph.D. preferred
* Minimum 7 years experience in laboratory management.
* Ability to speak in Mandarin is required.
* Ability to speak, read and write English is required.
* PCB experience highly desirable.
* Background in reliability statistics.
* Very strong organizational skills.
* Analytical & problem solving mind-set.
* Ability to identify and discount or accept assumptions.
* Possesses street smarts / business sense when working with local equipment suppliers and distributors.
* Ability to communicate complex or technical subjects effectively and concisely to non-technical people.
