Commodity Manager, Optics
? Career position in a US corporation with offices located in Shenzhen, China and the majority of the suppliers based in the Asia Pacific Rim
Job Responsibilities
? Manage and optimize the supplier base to ensure optical material supply in time, including Submounts, cables, lens, TEC, filter.
? If required, develop global supplier sources to meet TQRDC (technology, quality, response, delivery and cost) requirements.
? Take lead on driving material cost reduction by negotiation, VAVE (value added value engineering), sourcing, bidding, and etc.
? Define commodity strategy and ensure the corresponding action plans executed across the organization.
? Negotiate VMI program and business contract with suppliers.
? Facilitate the understanding and use of leading edge technology in the sourcing Optical components and materials on a global basis.
? Work as a bridge between the design team and suppliers.
? Develop and articulate Optical supply chain requirements to R&D, Engineering, as well as Commodity Management and Purchasing throughout the organization.
? Demonstrate a probing, analytical approach to problem solving.
? Perform SBR (Supplier business review) with key suppliers.
? Participate in supplier system audit.
? Manage suppliers’ partnership and risk.
? Develop quality, delivery, customer service, and cost metrics for supply base within the commodity.
? Develop and oversee strategic outsourcing of assigned commodities.
? Motivate the commodity team(s) and instill professional/customer service orientation.

Skills/Qualifications
 
? BS degree, Master degree in Engineering preferred in technical four year University. Major in Optoelectronics, Materials Science, Electronics or Semiconductor.
? Minimum 8 years’ experience in fiber optics industry. Prefer product Commodity Management experience would be a plus.
? Knowledgeable on optical material technology and manufacturing process.
? Strong negotiation and presentation skills which will result in meeting the objective and goals.
? Be able to deliver short term objectives while driving long term changes.
? Skillfully communicate in English in both verbal and written.
? Be able to travel in and out of china frequently.
