Principal Roles & Responsibilities:

? Lead the merchandising team and oversee daily operations, order status and shipments.
? Take a leadership role throughout the Company’s sourcing objectives. Proactively identify issues, offer alternatives/resolutions and manage their solution.
? Manage and execute the processes to identify, validate and recommend suppliers that will receive Request for Quotations (RFQ’s).
? Support the Regional Merchandise Manager in the approval of all suppliers for the defined area of responsibility.
? Participate in the creation of category sourcing strategies and program/item strategies with the Merchandise Managers and Sourcing Leaders.
? Lead the process of supplier/factory sourcing, product development, costing analysis, vendor management and production planning.
? Work with internal stakeholders to collaboratively develop suppliers to ensure complete understanding of Tar Heel Trading requirements, maintaining effective and efficient relationships.
? Identify and drive cross-category sourcing opportunities to drive cost saving and supplier leverage.
? Managing supplier base, demonstrate ownership of the supplier matrix and be able to build supplier strategy.
? Lead and execute supplier analysis for developing category supplier matrix.
? Gather, review and publish market intelligence to provide to THT leadership and customer category teams.
? Collaboratively work with the Regional Merchandise Manager and U.S. Global Sourcing leaders to ensure import procedures are communicated and complied by suppliers.
? Build relationships with the supplier base and facilitate the escalation of issues.
? Closely monitor the pre-production and production WIP to ensure on-time delivery and address exceptions.
? Collaboratively work with other Tar Heel Trading cross-functional teams (quality, logistics, finance, etc.) to identify and resolve issues / exceptions.
? Be proactive to drive, manage and resolve any charge back issues with suppliers.
? Lead, coach, motivate and develop team members to achieve the company’s goals and objectives. Nurture a knowledge sharing environment within the team.
? Plan and manage buy trips.
? Effectively utilize internal systems inclusive of PLM and 3rd party provided tools.
? Track supplier performance and utilize data to make sourcing decisions. Ensure performance meets standards.
? Provide management reports as required.
? Perform and manage other ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

? Bachelor Degree in business management, merchandising, or equivalent.
? At least 12 years relevant work experience in MNC, preferably gained in retail industry/buying offices. Minimum 3 years in a similar capacity and in a managerial position.
? At least 12 years relevant garment/Accessories merchandising experience in MNC, preferably gained in retail industry/buying offices. Minimum 3 years in a similar capacity and in a managerial position.
? Knowledge of US retail market preferred.
? Good understanding of pattern making, sewing and garment production process.
? Intermediate to advance working knowledge of web-based product life cycle management tools, inclusive of work flow, task management, supplier/service provide collaboration and management reporting (eg PLM or ERP) is preferred.
? Proficient in computer application (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel applications and Powerpoint).
? Excellent command of written and spoken English with strong presentation skill.
? Ability to uphold high level of business code of conduct and integrity.
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent negotiation skills.
? Strong leadership skills. Self-motivated. An open minded team player with a can-do attitude.
? Effective problem solving and decision making skills with strong strategic thinking.
? Able to work under high work pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
? Occasional travel is required.
