Job Summary

Wilton Brands is a craft and celebration leader, where great people deliver innovative products and exceptional customer service. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager.

This position will play a role as a Packaging vendor development and management, packaging project execution with suppliers and Wilton internal team to help achieve the company’s overall sourcing business plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Packaging vendor management
The Packaging Engineer’s main task is to develop Wilton preferred packaging vendor that is in line with our expectation on all areas of TQRACC, seek for opportunity to combine packaging purchasing volume to Wilton preferred vendor whereby the business case justified. In the case of continue to use supplier factory’s sub-tier packaging vendor, this role will adopt Wilton standard in his project execution
2. Develop and maintain Wilton Packaging Specifications
a) Revisit Wilton packaging spec. or packaging requirement in Corporate policy / process / standard related packaging, adjust and standardize the specification that best fit customer and retailer’s interest
b) Communicate and align the specifications with PD / PM team
c) Effectively execute the specifications in all business unit
d) Define and standardize the master carton design in order to optimize pallet and container loading
3. Lead re-branding packaging program
a) Create a packaging rebranding project plan, bring all functions on board with the plan, take care of other performance index while creating the plan (cost, continuity of supply, quality, etc.)
b) Communicate the transition plan with internal key stakeholders and suppliers
c) Execute the plan with PD / PM, Sourcing and Quality team through effective collaboration
4. Daily NPD project execution
a) Jointly work with Sourcing and PD / PM in NPD execution, play a role of packaging subject matter expert to resolve all packaging design and material related issues
b) Propose material and design options to meet requirement from product marketing
c) Effectively execute the packaging design, qualification and mass production by following Wilton NPD process, as gate keeper to ensure supplier and Wilton staff fulfill the packaging deliverables in each NPD phase
5. Others
a) Reduce cost via optimized packaging design and development process, removing redundancy in the process and improving execution velocity
b) Improve packaging data accuracy and consistency in each of Wilton internal systems
c) Establish and improve working process with Asia based packaging service provider (translation, artwork design, photography) with the aim fulfilling the business demand with higher efficiency. Coordinate with Asia based packaging service provider and Wilton internal team to execute packaging design

Knowledge, skills and abilities

? A thorough understanding of the whole process of packaging artwork design and mainstream packaging artwork design software. Ability of using at least one packaging artwork design software to modify artwork design will be a bonus
? Comprehensive knowledge about packaging material, packaging structure design and the performance / characteristic from a given packaging design
? Full knowledge on industry packaging test standard, test procedure and test equipment. Able to define test case per Wilton or retailer expectation, digest the test report from supplier and identify room to improve
? Problem solving- The ability to identify problems and develop and implement solutions to the issues
? Project management skills, identify roadblock and create a path forward that deliver result that is to the best interest of business
? Decision making - The ability to make high quality decisions in a timely manner

Education and/or experience

? Effective written and verbal communication in English and Mandarin
? A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, packaging material or other related field
? 5-8 year working experience on packaging design, packaging manufacturing (either is raw material or finish goods) related industry
? Familiar with computer and very comfortable with e-mail / excel etc.
? Responsibility, careful, pro-active, good team work, result-oriented
? Willing to take challenges, hardworking, self-motivated and dependable
? Capability and willing to handle multiple tasks
