General Responsibilities:

Based out of Shenzhen, the Sustaining Engineering Manager will build, direct and motivate staff in performing sustaining efforts, including but not limited to, vendor transitions, second sourcing, cost reduction by value engineering, cost reduction by re-design, production process /yield optimization, production issue root case/resolutions, and other general sustaining efforts. Besides from execution of projects, you are expected to develop and refine sustaining engineering processes to ensure that team operates with highly predictable and repeatable results. You will be leading a small team of Electrical and Mechanical engineers and will be interacting with Product Management, Program Management, Sourcing, Quality, Industrial Design and external OEM/ODM partners. You and your team’s performance will be measured in the form of 3ON (On-Spec, On-Time, and On-Spec). You must be familiar with consumer electronic space and have direct experience on products such as CLA, wall charges, hubs, docks, dongles, and cables…etc.

This is an exciting opportunity to build a new team. There will be a lot of unknowns and there are no boundaries set. Your ability will determine the growth level of the team and only those that are seeking to take upon the challenge should apply.

You will be required to make frequent domestic trips to manufacturing sites and occasional trips to USA.

Specific responsibilities:
? Responsible for recruiting and career development of sustaining engineering staff
? Creates guidelines and procedures to be used within the department
? Instill Belkin operational core values within the team and develop corresponding team culture
? Supervise sustaining engineering staff, monitor results of work for quality and quantity, and provide support and/or disciplinary action as required
? Monitor the team’s 3ON performance and ensure all projects trends towards meeting the goals
? Schedule and assign projects to appropriate personnel
? Develop and manage department budget requirements for personnel and equipment allocations.
? Work with corporate management, product management, program management, sourcing, to determine project cost objectives, and scheduling of resources.
? Review scope of each project and provide cost feasibility study, schedule input, and resources
? Work with Sourcing team on validating quotations from suppliers
? Partner with GSM team to manage and develop ODMs
? Perform supplier audit
? Rapidly respond to production issues, developing short term and long term solutions to minimize distribution to production
? Develop and publish yield rate and production efficiency tracker
? Identify and tackle production optimization and cost reduction opportunities
? Provide weekly report to senior management
? Travel to Belkin’s manufacturers, US headquarter, or other locations to meet business needs.
? Understand and follow company rules and regulations.
? Perform all other duties as assigned and required.

Education and Experience Requirements:
? Must hold Engineering degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or other related technical field gained from reputable University or Tertiary Institution
? Must have minimum 10 years of experience in the field of consumer electronic product manufacturing
? Must have minimum 4 years of managerial experience
? Must have minimum of 4 years of experience in working with US based companies
? Must have direct experience with CLA, wall charges, hubs, docks, dongles, and cables…etc.
? Must be fluent in English
? Track record of developing and leading highly motivated team
? Holds and operates with sound DFMx principles
? Familiar with various of electrical and mechanical manufacturing processes
? Familiar with both in-line and off-line product testing methodologies
? Strong systematic problem solving capability
? Strong knowledge in statistical process capability studies
? Strong BOM cost analysis and value engineering abilities
? Ability to balance costing and quality
? Strong project planning and budgeting experiences
? Ability to demonstrate strong leadership in cross-functional settings
? Supplier audit and technical management experiences
? Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
? Experience working for a recognized global brand is a big plus
? Excellent presentation, and communication skills
