Summary:
Nortek Security and Control is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop projects for iOT Residential Wireless Security and Automation Systems within our China R&D team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a team developing the industry’s most advanced Next Generation Wireless iOT platforms. He/She will be responsible for the product’s mechanical design elements based on design specifications and Industrial Design language. This individual needs to ensure that product’s quality meets company’s quality standards and requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:
? Project mechanical engineering leader for major development projects or multiple simultaneous projects. Ensure that engineering design activities are coordinated per the development procedure.
? Provides technical and operational leadership to the overall development team.
? Provides leadership in bringing new processes, procedures and technologies into the Mechanical team.
? Lead, participate in or support the following product development activities:
o Concept, planning, design and execution stages of major new products or product enhancements
o Risk assessment
o Prototyping and testing concept designs and initial engineering builds
o Pilot Production
o Design reviews
o Pre-production
o Assist in project planning and provide mechanical design leadership in project execution.
? As a member of multiple cross-disciplinary teams, create and release Product Requirements.
? Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility.
? Interact with global and internal design and manufacturing resources to design for manufacturability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
? Participate in the DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) to ensure product quality and meet compliance standard.
? Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility.
? Review product documentation for accuracy including documentation intended for customer use.
? Evaluate product non-conformances and recommend design modifications.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
? Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar, relevant discipline.
? Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical design and manufacturing
? Experience designing parts for plastic injection molding including insert molding and over-molding as well as integration of in-mold decoration (IMD).
? In depth understanding of design for manufacturability and creating designs that can minimize tooling costs
? Sheet metal and metal casting experience
? Experience with rapid prototype design and build for proof of concept and usability testing
? 5 plus years of CAD 3D Modeling, SolidWorks experience is highly desirable
? Proven ability to speed prototyping and Industrial Design approval, through the use of CNC, 3D Printing and
? Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast pace environment.
