MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The Assistant Manager works with Assortment Planners in the US to provide analytical support on assortment decisions made by the Merchandising Organization. The Merchandising Organization is responsible for establishing and managing the assortments for approximately $85B of sales, reviewing ~$30B each year.
- The Assistant Manager partners with Assortment Planners and Merchandising Organization primarily during Business Reviews (BRs) and Product Line Reviews (PLRs), and is responsible for
(a) Influencing the goals and objectives of category review;
(b) Conducting standard and ad hoc analyses to identify key drivers of performance;
Typical analyses include:
? Marketplace and macroeconomic trends impacting the category
? Price point offerings, line structure and profitability
? Vendor / Brand offerings and profitability
? Key product attribute offerings and profitability
? Regional or clustering performance of category for localization
(c) Recommending assortment decisions that will improve category performance;
(d) Tracking performance on top categories while also enabling post-mortem analysis on BRs, PLRs, and other strategic initiatives. - For the PLRs organized in China, the Assistant Manager is also expected to partner directly with the merchandising and cross functional teams to facilitate the event and influence product selection/ buy decisions. Provides a balanced perspective on key issues, weaving together marketplace, financial, customer, product knowledge and personal experience into compelling storylines.
- The person in this role should be able to integrate new sources of data and place them into context of the review objectives. He/she will be accountable for accuracy, thoroughness, thought process, ability to manage timeliness, and viability of recommendations.
- Serves as a peer group mentor/trainer for new associates and supports the Manager to train and mentor new hires. Develops subject matter expertise on new/unique topics and takes initiative to create new processes, templates, and training on the ASO A.P. team to improve efficiency.
- The Assistant Manager takes on assigned unique Ad-hoc projects outside of typical requests, executes greater analytical complexity with precision and relevance.
- Provides vendor or SKU financial performance and best practice sharing to Asia Sourcing Office

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & Competencies
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or comparable field
- English proficiency, ability to communicate well verbally and write compelling presentations
- Strong analytical skills and presentation skills
- Highly self-directed and intellectually curious
- Proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Tableau
- 5 to 8 years experiences with background of finance, accounting, statistic, trading or business, etc., be very familiar with retail business and other related business
