General Responsibilities:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a globally renowned design team. Based out of Belkin’s Shenzhen, China office, and collaborating closely in our talented local design team, the Sr. Product Designer will be responsible for overall productization of various consumer products, such as tablet keyboard, in-car power solutions, in-home power solutions, Laptop connectivity solutions, mobile phone/tablet cases, AV cables, and more. Your primary role is to collaborate closely with the US-based Innovation Design Group team to take products developed in HQ and work out details around design, material, and manufacturing processes to achieve the final product that achieves the quality, schedule and cost, objectives while maintaining the original design intent of the concept. You will be tasked to help identify new materials, new decoration processes, help to fine tune design details, make prototypes, establish master samples, and finally review & approve parts/products for production. In order to achieve this, you will be working closely with Industrial Designers, Product Managers, Program Managers, Engineers, the Sourcing team, and various manufacturers and vendors. You must strive to learn new things, be comfortable with going outside of your comfort zone, and enjoy solving problems while maintaining a positive-active attitude. You must be able to effectively communicate your ideas and bring alignment through strong verbal and written English and Chinese communication as well as through the use of sketches, renderings, and presentations. You must be a self-starter who is able to analyze and translate the Product Requirements into product design that provides best solutions to the end-user and to the business. You will be expected to travel to vendor sites frequently and also expected to travel to US office occasionally.


Specific responsibilities:

? Collaborate proactively with US ID team to understand design intent and goals for each project
? Communicate product design intent to engineering staff and manufacturers
? Study concepts with Engineers and Suppliers and make necessary feasibility negotiation while protecting the original design intent
? Make sketches, 2D, or 3D design changes to the original concepts and counter propose options to Industrial Designers if needed
? Research Color, Material, Finish (CMF) and develop strategic and tactical solutions as required
? Develop various levels of prototypes, including proof of concept, form & style samples, aesthetic samples, and even working samples as needed
? Gather and provide comparison data for multiple design options against cost, schedule, quality, and other critical attributes and lead the cross-functional team to achieve consensus
? On ODM projects, provide design guideline to ODM designers, review, and approve their work in collaboration with US ID team
? Work with sourcing team to identify new suppliers as needed for project purposes
? Generate measurable CMF, and other cosmetic specifications
? Review and approve parts/product for production
? Adhere to the project budgets and timelines as set by the Program Manager
? Adhere to Belkin’s brand & design language guidelines
? Maintain document change order through Agile system
? Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
? Understand and follow company rules and regulations
? Perform all other duties as assigned and required


Education and Experience Requirements:

? BS/BA degree in Industrial Design or Product Design
? Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in the field of consumer product sector
? Experience in working for a recognized global brand
? Experience in working in international, collaborative team setting
? Excellent sketching, visual communication, and presentation skills
? Strong understanding of user-experience and ergonomics
? Ability to understanding engineering challenges and effectively cooperate and negotiate
? Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, metal stamping, die-casting…etc.
? Understanding of decorative processes, such as painting, anodizing, PVD, plating, graphic transfer…etc.
? Prior experience in CMF development and validation
? Prior experience in reviewing samples, establishing limit samples, and approving parts/products
? Demonstrated DFx ability (Design For Cost, Design For Manufacturing, Design for Installation…etc.)
? Solid proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office
? 3D CAD experience is required: Solidworks is preferred, Rhino, or Pro-Engineer are a plus
? Demonstrated ability to create photo-realistic renderings using 3D software (i.e Keyshot)
? Strong fluency in both written and verbal English communication skills 举报 分享
