Initiatives was established in 1996 by Barry Wilson, first in Hong Kong in 1996 and subsequently in Shanghai in 2001 and Shenzhen in 2009. Our company focuses on large scale public sector infrastructure projects, particularly those related to urban greening, landfill, land reclamation, drainage, environmental impact assessment and highway planning.
Our China office concentrates on the problems related to rapid urbanization and city expansion, utilising sustainable design solutions related to transport planning, land drainage, water use, energy consumption and quality of life issues.
The practice forms strategic relationships with international experts in specialist fields, in order to bring a case by case basis, whilst the design director maintains close working relationships with various universities globally including: University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Shenzhen University, Lund University Sweden, and Pennsylvania State University.
Initiatives wish to create a better quality living environment by using cutting edge design solutions, formative research, international benchmaking and application of local experience coupled with extensive stakeholder collaboration.
