Job Output:
? Working with a Project Team from the Armstrong Flooring Products (AFP) Manufacturing Technical Support group in Lancaster, PA, this position is responsible for the design, development, and testing of the manufacture and installation of process equipment, components, or systems to support a new Resilient Sheet Flooring Plant in Wujiang, Jiangsu province.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
? Proactively provide engineering and technical assistance to the project team in construction and ongoing operation of the manufacturing plant in terms of equipment, maintenance, and production processes and systems.
? Identifying and resolving common cause and special cause issues that impact plant reliability and performance.
? Investigating manufacturing problems in the plants and recommending corrective actions. This includes consulting with production personnel, analyzing the supporting data, recommending corrective actions, and following through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness.
? Developing preliminary concepts and budgetary capital estimates for new products, projects, and improvements.
? Assisting in and / or developing vendor bid packages and final vendor selections for purchased parts and services.
? Executing capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded. This may vary from owning portions of a large project to sole ownership of a project.
? Executing equipment modification, process development etc. improvement activities.
? Collecting information to justify projects, completing payback analyses, and authoring requests for capital funds.
? Applying Precision Maintenance concepts and principals.
? Educating plant personnel on engineering and technical issues to ensure their knowledge and understanding.
? Coordinating training and start-up activities of new equipment and processes.
? Participating in Lean efforts, such as Kaizen events
? Providing status updates on project progress and issues.
? Provide technical support/training with Maintenance.
Organizational Relationships:
? Reports to Engineering & Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications Required
? Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical
? Min 8 years related experience
? Excellent communication and team skills (verbal, written and presentation).
? Bi-lingual - English
? Experience with mixing, compounder(extruder) and calendaring, printing, UV coating etc. system
? Construction, plant startup, equipment commissioning experience
? Experience in thermal power systems, bulk material conveyance, coating technologies, ventilation, process piping, and integrated system design is desirable
? Previous experience with the application of Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Statistical Process Control and Team Facilitation.
? Experience with AutoCAD, and Wonderware is desirable. can use CAD to design simple fixtures.
