Employee Position Description
The Associate Director, Quality Lab Strategy (Asia Pacific) will be responsible for identifying and prioritizing the strategic needs of the laboratories within the region and ensuring they are aligned with the overall JJSC Quality Labs One Lab vision and strategy. He/she will work closely with the segment business, quality and lab leads to ensure segment and site requirements are captured and that unique business needs, opportunities and challenges are considered as we continue to deploy our various initiatives across the lab network. He/she will also support regional and local quality and lab leaders to execute key strategic initiatives.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Director, Quality Lab Strategy (Asia Pacific) will support the deployment of the JJSC Quality Labs One Lab vision and strategy, taking into account the specific needs of our labs and the sites and franchises they support in the region. He/she will develop insights into the business and regulatory environment that our labs are operating under through connecting and partnering with business and quality leaders for the different companies and franchises in the region.
He/she will feed into the JJSC Quality Labs team the specific requirements and needs for labs in Asia to ensure global programs and initiatives are designed or appropriately flexible to meet the needs for labs in the region. Conversely, he/she will work with the segment and site laboratory leaders to identify their priorities and focus areas around compliance, standardization, lab systems, technology, operational excellence and lab network to ensure the correct strategies, roadmaps and investments are prioritized to support the development of those labs.
Where required he/she will support the deployment of the JJSC Quality Labs strategies and initiatives to the labs. This may be include leading communication of upcoming initiatives, gathering feedback on proposals, refining programs before deployment through to supporting labs at sites at implementation/execution phase. Direct hands on support may be required at labs in areas such as data integrity gap assessments and remediation plans, or other activities as agreed.
Through understanding the lab network, the talent and capabilities in the region the Associate Director, Quality Lab Strategy (Asia Pacific) will work with other JJSC Quality Lab leaders to identify further areas to support our labs, look for leveraging opportunities, build a network of collaboration and ensure the laboratory community there remains connected to the wider J&J lab community.
The Associate Director, Quality Lab Strategy (Asia Pacific) will be a change agent, and will develop and maintain strong relationships during sensitive business discussions.
The Associate Director, Quality Lab Strategy (Asia Pacific) will drive alignment, connection and communication between the JJSC Quality Lab Team and lab leaders and communities in the region.
Other roles and duties of the Associate Director, Quality Lab Strategy (Asia Pacific) may include (as required):
? Support the development of site specific roadmaps or strategies to align to the overall JJSC Quality Lab strategy
? Project management support on global initiatives
? Business planning and financial planning support
? Support business case development
? Development of communication materials aligned to local needs
? Development of training strategy aligned to local needs
*ESSENTIONAL FUNCTIONS:
? Accountable to the Director, JJSC Quality Labs.
? Responsible to develop and maintain strong relationships enabling sensitive business discussions and decisions.
? Responsible to manage and coordinate across functional areas, enterprise, campus and or business units in order to achieve company or area goals.
? Responsible to utilize technical/professional knowledge and skills to establish, interpret and execute within the lab environment.
? Responsible to make decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve JJSC Quality Lab objectives.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
? In-depth understanding of GMP regulations, with strong expertise in Analytical / QC lab environment including management of QC labs.
? Maintains compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
? Works closely and cooperatively with all levels of the organization.
? Successfully completes regulatory and job requirements.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
? Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other scientific discipline, with:
o Minimum of 8 years’ experience in medical device, consumer, pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry
o or Master’s degree, with 5 + years related experience (preferred)
? At least 3 years’ experience leading in a QC lab environment.
? LEAN problem solving skills.
? Extensive experience with automated lab systems, Management System.
? Experience leading and managing large-scale, complex projects.
? Experience developing business cases and compiling financial data in a lab context (preferred).
? Excellent technical writing skills; experienced in SOPs, protocols, reports.
? Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Visio.
? Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
? Work effectively in team situations as well as independently.
? Experience influencing, supporting and working in a matrix organization is preferred.
? Demonstrated people leadership and management skills.
? The ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
? Strong organizational, conflict management and decision-making skills are required.
? Must be able to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and operate with poise and professionalism in a complex, high-profile, and rapidly changing environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
? Fluent in English.
? Ability to write routine business reports and correspondence or procedure manuals using original, prescribed, or innovative techniques or styles.
? Ability to speak, present and/or respond before group of customers, employees, Regulatory Authorities, clients, technical or governmental documentation, journals, SOPs or regulations.
REASONING ABILITY
? Ability to comprehend, analyze, and/or interpret instructions as well as business, professional, scientific, technical or governmental documentation, journals, SOPs or regulations.
? Ability to translate global initiatives and objectives into local priorities and actions.
? Big picture orientation with attention to detail.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
? 25% Travel.
