Role Summary/Purpose

This position is a part of the Performance and Optimization team of Optimization and Control, a GE Energy company. Primary responsibilities include modeling, configuration and delivery of GE Energy’s Performance and Optimization software suite of products.

Essential Responsibilities

• Deliver thermodynamic performance monitoring and optimization solutions that meet the specific needs of our power industry and oil & gas customers. • Configure, install, validate, and provide ongoing support for the online performance monitoring and offline performance diagnostic systems. • Assist plant engineers in monitoring equipment performance, investigating potential performance and operational problems, and providing recommendations to maximize plant net revenue. • Assist in development of new technologies and procedures, which will help improve the product and reduce delivery time. • Train plant personnel on use of performance monitoring systems. • Travel to domestic and foreign power plants (10-25%).

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or equivalent. • 2+ years of power plant modeling experience with GateCycle or equivalent thermodynamic performance modeling software, GateCycle software preferred. • 1+ years of industry/academic experience [energy and/or oil & gas industry] in the areas of thermal performance evaluation, advanced process control, thermal performance testing or a combination of these. • Self-starter with knowledge of thermal performance and operation of power plants and power plant equipment. • Familiarity with Visual Basic or equivalent language programming. • Strong analytical skills working independently and in a team. • Fluent English communication skills (written and oral) to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel.

Desired Characteristics

• Advanced degree with emphasis in power generation technology. • Familiarity with power plant DCS and plant historians. • Familiarity with testing and measurement systems and with data interpretation. • Linear programming / optimization; neural net experience. • Six Sigma Green Belt certified (GE Employees only).
