Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

The Complex Hardware Airworthiness & Certification Engineer is responsible for providing guidance to ensure that: 1. External standards (FAA, EASA, CAAC regulations) are met 2. Industry practices such as DO-254, ARP 4754A, and Internal GE Engineering Development procedures are followed 3. Systems developed by GE Aviation are the result of suitable, rigorous, and structured processes enacted throughout the product lifecycle These primary responsibilities are supported by and fulfilled through the following tasks and responsibilities: • Work with the customer and the GE Product groups to ensure that T0, T1, and T2 hardware certification requirements are within the program scope • Provide guidance on hardware certification regulations to the internal and external customers • Work with the Product groups to ensure that the avionics system complies with applicable DO-254 regulations and associated guidance material • Support Certification Plans for the product in specific area of expertise • Provide interpretation of regulatory material to the customer and program staff • Establish and maintain relationship with required external and internal interfaces to ensure that customer requirements are understood and being achieved • Provide certification training to internal/external customers • Interface with, and provide support to, regulatory authorities, customer representatives, and supplier representatives. • Serve as domain expert for DO-254 Engineering standards

Qualifications/Requirements

• Strong personal code of ethics and high levels of integrity • DER or other professional certifications • Strong oral and written English communication skills • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • PC proficiency • Extensive background in aerospace electronics / avionics engineering and development • An understanding of FAA / EASA/CAAC aircraft and systems certification processes (TC, STC, PMA, TSO, etc.) • Working knowledge of DO-178B, DO-254, and ARP 4754 • Experience working with Regulatory Agencies such as FAA, EASA, etc. • Understanding of aircraft Safety process
