Requirements & Experience

1. Experience of working with freight companies and an understanding of transportation networks is seen as important for this role. Being able to respond professionally and timely to dealer requests and see these through to completion, whilst exploring all possible scenarios along the way is also essential. This role requires a person who is prepared to travel within when required China and manage relations with transportation companies on behalf of Unipart.

2. Experience in handling or working with vehicle parts or a similar commodity would be seen as a distinct advantage.

3. Good knowledge of transportation regulation and law; DG transportation regulation knowledge is preferred;

Job Description

The Transport Specialist will report directly to transport supervisor and be responsible for managing the out bound ( i.e. from parts warehouse through to dealer ) transportation.

i) Dealer transportation management

1. Manage the movement of products in and/or out of the country/warehouse/free trade zone in accordance with organizational policy and procedure, and to comply with relevant local, country and international law and process.

2. Manage the necessary documentation for the efficient, cost-effective and lawful execution of all import/export activities.

3. Maintain and share with colleagues as appropriate, personal knowledge of all relevant import/export law and procedures; tariffs and duties; licences and restrictions.

4. Manage/liaise with stock control, warehousing and distribution activities influenced by or reliant upon import/export activities.

5. Prepare and submit relevant administration in a timely and accurate manner to fulfil order and win customers’ satisfaction.

6. To make sure delivery on time 100% (negotiation); Detailed record for each shipment and easy to tracking;

ii) In transit damage management

1. Handle claims resulting from in transit damage through to completion; raise the compensation form to transportation company and accident report provided by freight which includes precaution/correction action and etc.

2. Work with freight providers to identify reasons for damage and put in place countermeasures

3. Produce reporting and manage KPI’s focused on reducing damage levels

iii) Dealer Satisfaction

Working with dealers and the Customer Service Manager is another key aspect of this role. Understanding dealer concerns around freight issues and addressing these in a timely manner will be a core part of the role however working proactively to constantly improve the service level that we offer is also paramount.
