PURPOSE:
The QA Supervisor coordinates the daily activities of the QA team providing support for regional and global packaging solution strategies. In this role, this individual provides leadership, training and guidance to the QA team members to enforce quality standards and initiatives as well as performing the duties of the QA Executive.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Effectively plan, lead and manage the packaging QA function including the oversight and supervision of the team. Responsible for providing guidance, direction, and mentoring to insure effectiveness. Proactively manages performance and succession planning. Plans for long term needs, analyzing staffing levels and resource allocation in light of changing business objectives.
? Maintains accurate scheduling for production and QA activities using company supplied tools. Develop and marinating the processes for effective QA and formulating processes for packaging implementation.
? Evaluates and recommends improvement for process improvement to manager. Implements changes as needed.
? Coordinates efforts with internal and external parties; provides guidance or suggestions on quality matters to local or regional QA team. Documents and works to resolve the most complex issues/problems.
? Works closely with customers in various industries wherever PACCESS is doing business within the packaging area. Arrange field visits to ensure customers’ needs are met. Assists in samples checking, prototypes and communicate feedback to production partners.
? Establish close working relationships with QA team of PACCESS and strategic/production partners. Provide reports on activities relating packaging.
? Develop and apply knowledge of package manufacturing processes to include corrugated, folding carton, and flexible packaging. Develop and apply practical knowledge of structural and graphic production process in support of the technical needs of our customers. Develop and apply skills in paper material and finished product testing & reporting.
? Perform in house quality test and arrange outside quality testing.
? Works with customer’s as needed to help define their intent, support local sales, and project management. Works with packaging development to understand and clarify the intent of the customer.
? Responsible for sample’s color approval and ensuring that production meets the customer’s intent.
? Based on final approved packaging, develop and hand off technical standards and parameters to QA, suppliers and customers for mass production.
? Applies knowledge and cross-function in quality assurance. Occasionally, will involve mass production onsite inspections and generate QA reports.
? Provide technical support to project team and Asia sales on new business opportunities. Responsible for analysis of packaging materials and manufacturing technology. Makes comparison analysis of PACCESS packaging and others’ packaging.
? Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
SCOPE
Position requires the ability to work with a high degree of complexity due to the different technical tools and processes utilized as well as the various business strategies and initiatives employed by a variety of global business units and customers. Problems and issues may be only vaguely defined and require application of experience, knowledge and situation to determine the best solution. Must be able to make sound decisions and provide manufacturing solutions. Job is performed with very little direction from others. Success or failure impacts company profitability and global competitive positioning. Maintains extensive and effective communications with internal and external contacts with employees at all levels. Must be able to handle some confidential and sensitive information. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: QA Executive
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
? Four-year college degree with at least 5 years of experience in QA and 2 years of people management experience.
? Knowledgeable of packaging including corrugated shipping carton as well as litho-laminated packaging
? Knowledgeable in offset printing and color management
? Ability to work independently and exercise problem-solving skills
? Service oriented personality – strong interpersonal skills, highly professional, courteous, friendly, and calm in stressful situations
? Proven ability to analyze complex problems independently and develop solutions.
? Comfortable to work with senior managers both internal and external.
? Strong organizational skills, ability to set goals, maintain focus and follow through
? Proven ability to multi task and prioritize responsibilities. Must possess the ability to manage workload in a fast paced environment with competing demands and shifting priorities without compromising quality of work product.
? Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
? Thorough understanding of fiber based packaging materials and transportation testing – ISTA testing, ring crush, ECT, burst/Mullen, BCT, etc.
? Good organizational skills and attention to detail
? Familiarity of the graphic and packaging industry
? Excellent interpersonal and communications skills both in English (written and oral) and in local language.
? Knowledgeable of cross-function in implementation. Involvement with First-Article sampling, generating production, quality standard documentations, review graphics, and structure files.
? Thorough understanding and experience with fiber based packaging materials and transportation testing – ISTA testing, ring crush, ECT, burst/Mullen, BCT, etc.
? A history of following multiple tasks to completion.
? Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
? Ability to travel domestically and abroad.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
? Plastics packaging competency – thermoformed, injection molded, blow molding
? Thorough understanding of color management and working experience in color measuring devices
