Core responsibility
The IT consultant reports to the Director of Operations and has the responsibility for implementation of IT servers and server applications.
It’s a part-time job at present stage. The candidate needs to install MS server and set it up to be the Domain Controller, Fileserver, and Mail Server (MS Exchange).
Demands of the position
The IT consultant will have a technology service background, preferably in an international school environment. The candidate will have had demonstrable, hands-on experience in implementing network servers on various platforms, and with the operating systems and applications installed on them. In addition the successful candidate will possess the following:
-Experience with the common file and application server operating systems.
-Experience with database, communications, and other server based applications
-The IT consultant should have a minimum of Bachelors degree in an IT or IS program, from an accredited University.
-A proven track record working within a medium sized IT support group.
-Confident and experienced communicating in both English and Chinese.
-Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve system problems.
-Moderate experience in managing network communications devices.
-Some experience with implementing and managing wireless network technology.
Main duties and responsibilities
The IT consultant will:
-Install MS Server and set it up to be the Domain Controller, Fileserver, and Mail Server (MS Exchange)
-Establish the users and rights within the Active Directory
-Create folder structure and security according to plan
-Configure client computers to connect to the domain (also establish a uniform computer naming convention)
-Set up remote access ability (to discuss but likely done through Exchange Server)
-Work with our ISP to set the IP address for the mail server all of the above is somewhat dependent on
-Configure all the fixed IP addresses and address allocation (DHCP) to be consistent and non-overlapping so all are on the same subnet and finally,
-Document all the works done above, in English, so we can maintain the system until our IT staff are hired in April,2015.
