Design/Advanced Quality Engineer


Overview
The Advanced Quality Engineer supports the Development Engineer and the Project manager regarding New Product Development.


Responsibilities
1. The Advanced Quality Engineer supports the Development Engineer and the Project manager regarding New Product Development (NPD).
2. The AQE joins the core team during the project Concept Phase and provides expert opinion from quality view throughout the project life.
3. Facilitates team creation of key quality deliverables including Design Review meeting summaries, advanced Engineering D- and PFMEA and establishing Critical Requirements (CTQ (Critical to Quality))
4. Assist Manufacturing Development team to specify tooling requirements and acceptance criteria.
5. Integrate Voice of the Customer (VOC) into the design
6. The AQE will support the Core Team by:
a. Attending all team meetings
b. Contacting customers, as required, to clarify requirements
c. Contact manufacturing sites (internal and external) to ensure risk mitigation during production start-up using tools such as:
i. Process Flow
ii. PFMEA
iii. Control Plans / Inspection Plans
iv. MSA/GR&R
v. SPC
7. Facilitate completion of APL-PPAP documents for each project (407-1328-APL)
8. Support compliance to LEANPD (TEC-407-501) for new product development.
9. Support compliance to and Tyco Quality Management procedures (TEC-1000)


Qualifications
1. BS in related Engineering Discipline or equivalent experience.
2. Previous experience in core manufacturing competencies such as Stamping, Plating, Molding and Assembly or previous experience in Product Engineering.
3. Demonstrated ability to identify root cause, drive improvement actions and resolve problems.
4. Formal Six-sigma training and experience, a background in statistics, and proficiency in Mini-Tab is highly desirable.
5. Must be able to apply FMEA and SPC. LDFSS “Green Belt” or “Black Belt” certification is preferred.
6. Experience in product test development and laboratory analysis to support root
cause analysis and conclusions.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with
other cultures.
8. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks such that multiple high profile development projects can be managed.
9. Willingness and ability to participate in teleconference meetings early morning or late evening to accommodate other time zones.
