Core responsibility
The Marketing Manager reports to the Director of Admissions and supports him or her in all work relating to admissions and marketing, especially with regards to Chinese student recruitment.
We seek an enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with students, parents and staff, and who possesses good communications skills (both verbal and written).
Demands of the position
The Marketing Manager has a background in marketing and/or public relations, has good communications skills and an understanding of international education. In addition the successful candidate will possess the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in social media, writing press releases and liaising with different media channels.
- Excellent verbal and written Chinese language skills.
- Able to communicate effectively in English.
- Interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds (parents, students, media and school faculty).
- Prior publicity and recruiting experiences for an international school in China/ East Asia or some knowledge of the IB Diploma Programme would also be preferred.
- Ability to work well in a multi-cultural workplace.
- Entrepreneurial in spirit and results-oriented with good time management skills
- High levels of personal integrity.
- An ability to generate ideas and develop them into reality.
- High levels of computer literacy. Ability to effectively use databases essential. Knowledge of MS Office, FileMaker Pro Software knowledge a plus.
- Good health, physical stamina and fitness.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Marketing Manager will assist the Director of Admissions in implementing the school’s admissions policy. His/her responsibilities will include the following:
- Managing and coordinating the outreach to stakeholders, including but not limited to: education bodies, schools, NGOs, expatriate and community groups.
o Build awareness and support of the UWC mission and movement among these stakeholders.
o Ensure that all contact with stakeholders is updated in online tracking database.
- Supporting all admissions presentation for prospective families.? Supporting the Director of Admissions in representing the school at international school fairs, student recruitment fairs, and other educational conferences fairs.
o Ensuring that all promotional and admission materials are packaged and delivered to fairs on a timely basis
- Helping to develop and produce school publicity materials.
- Conducting market research; helping to design and implement the school’s marketing strategy.
- Ensuring that the Chinese language versions of the school’s publicity materials (including press releases, website, printed brochures, etc.) are of a high quality and reflect the school’s ethos well.
- Managing the school’s Chinese social media channels, including WeChat and Weibo accounts, and assuring the quality of communication with stakeholders through these channels.
- Managing the relationships with relevant local media partners, including TV, radio and print media.
- Managing the school’s communications, over email, telephone or in-person, with different stakeholders (i.e. parents, students, media, supporters) and ensuring that the communication is consistently professional and of a high quality.
o Includes implementing a system for responding to admissions queries from families in a timely and effective manner.
o Helping to conducting student interviews and tours of the school with prospective families in order to evaluate students’ interests, needs, motivation and general fit with the school/UWC.
o Maintain a close and broad network of prospective parents and students.
- Managing the student admissions process, including producing the application forms, arranging for testing, providing the logistical support for Selections Day, nominations process, etc.
- Track on a database all applicants from first contact to final decision and beyond.
- Update and keep students’ files in order.
