Key Responsibilities

? Keep up to date on developments in local IP laws and practice and assist business unit and regional management in the development of strategies to effectively manage IP opportunities, risks, and concerns.

? Assist with due diligence, through undertaking patent searches, analysing third party patents and developing strategies to mitigate risks.

? Assess the IP service suppliers in the region and build up a relationship with key attorneys. Consolidate and set up frame agreements with suppliers where appropriate.

? Manage filings and oppositions made directly into local territories on behalf of the business area and regional organisations, and update cases in the internal IP filings database

? Ensure quality of important patents through sourcing re-translation checks.

? Report and distribute IP information for the region, such as infringement case reporting and providing IP portfolio overviews.

? Promote IP awareness through conducting IP training.

? Assist supply chain and regional management to establish processes, such as information sharing guidelines, training and confidentiality agreements to best protect IP with key suppliers and partners.

? Act as a focal point to provide advice and support on local IP issues, e.g. in purchasing, contracts, confidentiality, etc., calling on the wider IP function network for support as required.

? Monitor market activity: competitor/customer offerings as well as follow up on potential infringement.

? Assist in development of tax effective transfer pricing compliance when local entities use IP owned outside that country, i.e. help identify and value APAC entities investments in IP Pools.

? Other duties as assigned from time to time

Basic Requirements

? Technical background

? Oil & gas industry experience

? IP knowledge and experience in patent, trade mark, design right, copyright and confidentiality management

? Bachelor’s degree or above in commercial, legal or engineering discipline

? Knowledge of Intellectual Property law and strategic practice

? Knowledge of Oil & Gas industry products and systems

? Understanding of intellectual property matters and the terminology used

? Ability to communicate effectively in Chinese and English, both in writing and verbally

? Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

? Highly Analytical, able to understand complex IP issues

? Gather facts and figures and achieve goals in a timely manner

? Be a self starter, capable of working on own initiative in order to achieve tasks

? Focus on results and willingly tackle problems or conflicts which threaten their achievement

? Ability to manage own work to ensure schedule and budget targets are understood and met

? Good time-management and organisational skills

? Be confident and professional when dealing with negative people and situations
