Position Summary

Conduct R&D operating plan, proceed the new product development in alignment with NPD process to ensure the completion of the product development within the requirement of quality, cost, schedule and budget. Provide technical support to marketing and operation for the new opportunity and sustaining work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Coordinate and leads new production development or existing product improvement project.

2. Works with customers, both internal and external, to determine the product’s technical requirements.

3. Complete risk analyses, design calculations, FMEAs and design reviews, to verify that the design meets or exceeds product specifications.

4. Develop product concept models through utilization of proper prototyping techniques.

5. Develop an effective test plan, coordinating the efforts of engineering technicians to test the design, and utilize statistical methods to verify performance to requirements.

6. Produce product engineering test samples utilizing rapid prototyping technology.

7. Coordinate the efforts of product designers and drafters to document the design.

8. Work in concert with manufacturing and industrial engineering to ensure the product is producible at the cost target.

9. Work as part of a cross-functional team to ensure effective phase-in to production.

10. Complete the project on-time and on-budget.

11. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Required Education/Experience

1. University or college degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

2. 3+ years working experience on new product development in mechanical industry.

3. Good knowledge and experience of plastic part and metal part design, good understanding of tooling process.

4. Good Pro-e skills.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

1. Master basic theory, basic knowledge of mechanical engineering disciplines; including: mechanical design, materials, manufacturing process, measurement, test.

2. Grasp the basic knowledge of plastic engineering.

3. Master the basic methods of literature search, data query, and preliminary scientific research and practical work;

4. Ability to thrive in a team environment, capable of planning and coordinating efforts of large multi-disciplinary teams.

5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

6. General knowledge of PC engineering software and CAD, especially ProEngineer or Solidworks.

7. General use of statistics and statistical software.

8. Proficiency in oral and written English.

9. Proficient in MS Office applications.
