The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the introduction of new products into offshore high volume production. A successful NPI engineer; is dynamic, driven, organized and detail oriented; excels in program/ project management; communicates with ease at all levels across global geographical boundaries; thrives in an ambiguous environment and is adept at facilitating actions and resolving conflicts. Travel 25%
Responsibilities
? As a member of a matrixed development team, the NPI manufacturing engineer will represent the department as a core team member to provide technical expertise for appropriate production process, material definition and overall design for manufacturability
? Plan and execute on all assigned New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. Establish standards for Design for Manufacturing and lead the fulfillment of all manufacturing process requirements and deliverables for assigned programs.
? Engage with the development team from design and early prototype development, through product launch and production ramp, to ensure schedule, cost, yield and capacity (Including planned upside) quality objectives (SPC and CpK) are met.
? Determine new product manufacturing resources (Labor, NRE, Expense and Capital) requirements, development plans, and Launch / Ramp schedules. Work in tandem and asynchronously with the broader global team to develop, implement and manage detailed new product introduction schedules and all product launch documentation.
? Manage tooling and part approval process, along with appropriate fixturing and or assembly equipment
? Assume the role as the primary point of contact of perspective CM's and strategic suppliers
? Ensure all required specifications/documentation, materials, equipment; procedures are in place for all phase changes and production launches
? Work with Zeps quality team to ensure all quality and inspection activities are fully documented and defined before product launch.
? Participate as an core team member of Zep internal cross-functional HiP teams to ensure products are optimized for cost, manufacturability, supply chain flexibility and efficiency
? Work with outsourced Manufacturing Partners to assess and develop manufacturing processes and procedures
? Support Quality Metrics and provide leadership in problem resolution and failure analysis (regarding build configurations, yields, line stops, bone pile, scrap rates, component failures, etc.) with manufacturing partners and component suppliers
? Participate in the creation of Top Level and below document control system, BOM/part number/product structure and all mfg. related requirements documentation
? Implementation of ECO (Engineering Change Orders) within the company and with manufacturing partners to account for all changes
Requirements
? BS Degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent experience
? Must be fluent in Mandarin and English (read/write and verbal)
? 5-7 years direct hands on experience and know-how with fast paced, mechanical product design and product commercialization start-ups.
? Experience with Automotive quality systems (ISO/TS 16949) and PPAP processes, Total Quality Management (TQM), continuous process improvement, statistical process control (SPC), lean manufacturing principals
? Knowledge & direct experience in manufacturing operations, new product introductions and production launch
? Knowledge of Program Management and Quality systems; PMP/Six Sigma certifications highly desirable
? Understanding of mechanical fabrications processes such as extrusions, machining/turning, die investment & sand casting, sheet metal, precisions stamping and ALU/SS materials and mechanical assembly processes
? Knowledge in DFx methodologies and practices as applied to high volume manufacturing
? Able to perform root cause analysis and resolve problems on a conceptual and advanced troubleshooting level
