General Description
This position is for those who play a role of academic liaison, request receiving and processing, provide research support and reference services. In addition, he or she should make digital resources plan, survey, trial, evaluation, purchasing and review, and digital resources and skills training for PG students and Staff.
Main Responsibility and Accountability
1. Liaison duties:
Receive requests from and feedback to academic communities with respect to teaching and research.
Keep both faculties and the library updated of the changes and progress in each side.
Develop widely and deeply corporation with other libraries in setting up the inter-library loan system of XJTLU library.
2. Reference and instruction duties:
Provide reference services, library instruction, and research consultation.
Work as a team member to develop information literacy workshop to staff and students.
Play a tutor role to assist senior students in their final year projects.
Take reference services to new levels to meet the future needs of university.
3. Collection development duties:
Recommend selection of journals and electronic or digital materials.
Review faculty requests, review journals, bibliographies, etc., to keep abreast of current and historical resources in the subject area.
Respond to calls from potential donors and select materials received as gifts for the library’s collections.
Investigate and assess databases and other electronic products available from publishers in assigned subject areas and recommend purchase or license as appropriate.

Position Qualification Requirement
Skills and Knowledge
1. Work well independently and collaboratively with colleagues, faculty and staff in a team environment.
2. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills both in English and Chinese.
3. Good presentation skill.
4. Strong search and retrieval skills.
5. Broad knowledge of print and electronic reference resources.

Qualifications and Experience
1. Master Degree or above with academic backgrounds in life science, computer science, software engineering or information science, or bachelor Degree in the listed subjects with more than 5 years working experience in an academic Library.
2. Experience of tutoring or information literacy instruction is preferred.
3. Interest in exploring emerging technologies to advance and improve reference and instruction services for both teachers and students.
