Position: Quality & Systems Manager for a europe food maunufacturing company in China

Responsibilities:

· Lead the quality assurance department to set and monitor quality standards across the company.

• Liaise with both plant managers to continuously improve quality standards and to drive down the level of internal rejects, customer complaints and the overall cost of poor quality.
• Liaise with the process engineering and product development groups to assist them to deliver capable processes and products fit for their intended customer.
• Liaise with the Group Regulatory Affairs Manager to ensure the business remains compliant with changes in regulations and legislation.
• Chair the Senior Management Review meetings and co-ordinate the wider range of, product centred, quality improvement programmes through this group.
• Manage customer complaints and ensure that appropriate corrective and preventive action is taken.
• Assist the company in setting the quality improvement strategy.
• Manage the quality assurance budget.
• Develop the skills and capabilities of the staff within the whole quality group and manage this through rigorous use of the staff performance and development.
• Ensure that the analytical services group provides the correct level of support to meet the company legislative compliance standard and also in support of the manufacturing processes.
• Direct the product kitchen group to deliver development and technical support to customers and the product development group.

Required:

· A key feature of this role is managing and driving change within the quality department. Unlike many food businesses, Company is a 24/7 operation with continuous high speed production. It is technically complex and depends upon good process and product capability supported by good SPC and decision making processes.

· A degree, or higher degree, level education in a physical, biological or food science subject. Familiar with BRC and ISO 9000:2000 standards. A minimum of 5 years quality management experience in a food or drink manufacturing environment with a proven record of achievement. A Diploma in Advanced Food Hygiene (MREHIS) is desirable but a food hygiene certificate at intermediate level must be held.

· Possess excellent interpersonal skills to enable good communication across all levels and disciplines. Very well organised and responsive to urgent customer needs. Must be prepared to travel to customers or suppliers premises where necessary. Direct experience of supplying large retailers. Six-sigma / statistical process capability knowledge is desirable.
