As a Senior Transportation Analyst on the Cat Logistics team, you’ll monitor the Transportation service provided by non-Caterpillar employee contract providers at multiple cross dock operations within China and Japan., for the shipment of Caterpillar components and assemblies domestically and overseas; identify, investigate, and resolve problems with shipments to assure they are delivered to facilities accurately and on-time; and develop initiatives to improve service and lower cost.


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Coordinating the administration of contract agreements with approved Service Providers. Monitoring the performance of these Service Providers to ensure compliance in meeting Caterpillar facilities, Suppliers and Distribution Centers’ cost and service performance expectations.
* Analyzing distribution concepts pertaining to Cross Dock Operations. Identifying, developing and administering implementation of improved transportation methods that support Caterpillar's cost and service objectives and goals, to ensuring best results for Caterpillar and Cat dealer organizations.
* Coordinating problem resolution with Caterpillar facilities and approved Service Providers related to packaging, damage, incorrect routing, or misidentification of material received from contracted Service Providers.
* Identifying areas of possible cost savings or improvements in service, associated with the contracted Service Providers, coordinating impact analysis with Providers and implementation of cost effective solutions.
* Developing sound relationships with contracted Service Providers to aid in improved contracted services at competitive costs. Working with Service Providers, Logistics and Facility Transportation personnel to provide cost effective coordination, routing and guidance for purchased and interplant shipments.
* Moderate travel is required to visit cross dock operations, establish and maintain relationships with providers, assess operations, implement changes, etc.

Required Qualifications:

* College or university degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 3 years experience in Transportation and/or Logistics.
* Understanding of company organization, policies and procedures and a general knowledge of logistics, distribution, and transportation systems is also required.
* Excellent human relations skills are required to co-ordinate activities, changes, improvements, and cost saving ideas with service providers, distribution center and various Cat facility personnel.


Desired Qualifications:

* Fluent in Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin) and English
* Knowledge of purchasing, parts ordering & inventory management systems
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* Good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
