The Student Admissions Officer will administer recruitment and admissions to Masters programmes in the International Business School Suzhou at XJLTU. The officer will act as an ambassador for IBSS and for the University as a whole. This position reports to the Head of Registry with an additional line to IBSS School manager. The role involves close collaboration with the University Admissions Office and the International Recruitment and Support Team.
The major responsibilities include:
1. Manage enquiries from the initial inquiry through application, admissions and up to registration.
2. Administer admissions processes to ensure that university procedures are followed and offers are delivered to students in a timely fashion
3. Track progress against admissions goals set in collaboration with programme directors, school and university
4. Deliver recruitment presentations in small and large group settings;
5. Represent IBSS at career fairs and university visits
6. Build strong relationships with external stakeholders and internal staff members;
7. Advise prospective students and university careers offices on all aspects of academic masters programme options;
9. Contribute to the planning and delivery of special events on and off-campus;
10. Develop expertise in the evaluation of admissions credentials, and coordinate evaluation process with various offices on campus
11. Ensure that information in admissions and recruitment systems is up-to-date and monitored closely
12. Work with staff in other offices to ensure that university web sites are accurate and up-to-date and that application web processes are functioning well
13. Analyse recruitment/admissions data and make recommendations on next steps
14. Recommend and contribute to the continuous improvement of work processes within the university
15.Participate in other university-related projects, as assigned, commensurate with role and level (20% of workload)
Qualifications:
1. Masters degree + 5 years of related work experience, in higher education or a communications role
2. Strong public speaking and interpersonal communication skills
3. Strong planning and organization skills
4. Good computer skills for managing presentations, managing web enquiries, entering information in systems, and tracking data
5. Knowledge of both China higher education system, and at least one international education system
6. Bilingual Chinese/English
7. Ability to work under pressure around key deadlines
8. Must be prepared, from time to time, to work evenings and weekends or to travel on university business
