Student Experience Manager, Business School
The Student Experience Manager is responsible for supporting MBA programmes and Executive Education, and is part of the School Management team. He or she is primarily responsible for enhancing the student and programme participant experience, which starts at the point of enquiry and continues to graduation, through the provision of excellent service, innovative programme design, and a learning and teaching experience of the highest standard. The Student Experience Manager reports to the School Manager, with additional reporting line to the Programme Director(s).
Responsibilities include:
1. To support the Programme Directors in communicating with faculty to encourage innovation and quality in programme design and delivery according to best practice.
2. To set high expectations for student service, ensuring all participants understand their individual professional roles in delivering programme objectives
3. To support the Programme Director and the Marketing Team in the execution the programme marketing strategy, including events management
4. To keep abreast of competition, innovation and changes affecting the Education sector, and the programmes’ customers and to communicate these to the Programme Director and the Marketing Manager
5. To work with Programmes Directors to identify key markets, and develop strategies to exploit market opportunities
6. To liaise with Directors and Heads of Group and other offices to ensure the programmes are adequately and appropriately resourced.
7. To deliver a first-line advising service to students, referring students to their Academic Adviser, or specialised or academic support as appropriate.
8. To manage induction processes for incoming students, including direct entrants, transfers from partners and international exchange students.
9. To work with various offices to ensure a smooth transition from inquiry/admissions process to orientation, induction, module registration, satisfaction through excellent service, student support, graduation, assessment and examinations.
10.To provide support for alumni relations and work placements, and to ensure students receive seamless support from School and university teams
11. To understand the varying needs of the different external customer groups (applicants, clients, alumni, managers and organisations) and internal customers and to communicate this understanding to those engaged in the delivery of the programme to ensure satisfaction
12. To liaise with School officers, Directors and Registry and other offices to ensure programme schedules/timetabling and assessment processes are effectively delivered and in accordance with university and school policies, and necessary resources are allocated
13. To work with the Programme Directors and the International Student and Recruitment Support team to encourage and facilitate the exchange of students with international partner institutions.
14. To support the Programme Director to identify and manage dependencies, issues and risks for all aspects of the programme delivery, and define clear communication and escalation processes to manage these.
15. To ensure effective and efficient use of SITS and other information systems across all aspects of the programme.
16. To be responsible for data collection, report preparation and action plans for the programme arising from quality audits and accreditation activities, including annual programme review and other strategic reviews, in support of the Programme Director
17. To work with the Programme Director, the School Learning and Teaching Committee and the Programme Management and Quality Assurance office to ensure all aspects of the School’s assurance of learning and quality assurance processes are operational and effective, including student feedback systems and processes
18. To provide support to key programme committees and work groups, including Board of Studies
19. To build strong networks within the School and across the University to facilitate the dissemination of best practice and team working
20. To ensure compliance with University policies / procedures and regulations
21. To take on other school and university responsibilities, as assigned, for example supporting MSc programmes, commensurate with the grade and nature of the post
Job requirements
1. Availability to work outside of regular hours, particularly evenings and weekends
2. Occasional travel, national and/or international, may be required
Qualifications
1. Masters degree plus four years of relevant work experience, MBA is desirable.
2. Substantial and relevant management experience, in the public or private sector; experience of managing MBA and/or Executive Education programmes is an asset
3. Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
4. Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese
5. Knowledge of HE sector quality assurance and accreditation processes is an asset
6. Service-oriented focus, very attuned to customer requirements and demands
7. Ability to manage projects and multiple, shifting deadlines
