SCOPE OF THE ROLE AND BASIC PURPOSE
This job description covers job responsibilities & skills for the R&D Development Engineer position located in the MD&D China R&D facility. It includes the following levels: Assistant, Engineer (no designation), Senior, Lead, Principal.
The R&D Development Engineer is responsible for: acting as a team member on product development projects conducting various assignments in cooperation with direction of team & team leader.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Policies: Know & follow J&J policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility.
Training: Complete training in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training in areas such as safety and environmental.
Safety: Follow all company safety policies & other safety precautions within work area. Promote safety to all associates that enter work area.
Assistant: Complete assignments involving a specific phase of an engineering project which may include design, development, testing; May assist in determining objectives & planning schedules of specific task within a given project.
Engineer: Previous level Responsibilities Plus: Conduct assignments encompassing entire project or a large portion of a major project; Co-ordinate activities with internal & external customers.
Senior: Previous level Responsibilities Plus: Apply comprehensive & diverse knowledge of engineering principles to a broad range of assignments; Plan, conduct & direct engineering assignments to completion; May co-ordinate, direct activities of other technical support staff & be responsible for their assignments.
Lead: Previous level Responsibilities Plus: Devise or adapt new methods, using a full understanding of procedures & various product development techniques. Plan, conduct & direct projects major in scope & significant to company.
Principal: Previous level Responsibilities Plus: Influence the company's business, strategic directions & financial results through a sharing of technical expertise.
Other responsibilities may be assigned & not all responsibilities listed may be assigned.
Work Environment: Office environment
Travel Requirements: Domestic & international travel, as required
All employees are responsible for minimizing both the environmental and health and safety effects of the work that they perform.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree is a must, nice to have Master degree.
2. Fluent English skills is a must.
