POSITION: Program Manager GROUP/DIVISION: Power Transmission
LOCATION: WTC DATE: September 12, 2013
BASIC FUNTION: (WHY POSITION EXISTS)
Manage products launches seamlessly and on time, from concept to production, by working with cross functional
teams to ensure product profitability and robust durability.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: (MAJOR END RESULTS FOR WHICH POSITION IS ANSWERABLE)
1. Coordinate and conduct gate reviews for approval with Dayco cross-functional teams throughout program
phases.
2. Follow and reinforce Dayco Project Management Procedures, APQP, and customer project requirements.
3. Manages project team meetings, both internally and with customer to close open issues and keep projects on
track.
4. Update & report global project timing plan and share both internally and with customer.
5. Regularly communicate program status, by reporting issues on cost/timing/ manufacturing/performance, to
management, sales, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, applications engineers, development engineers both
informally (email, verbal, etc.) and formal (presentations, reports, etc.).
6. Work with manufacturing engineering and cross functional teams to conduct OTS trial runs.
7. Resolve conflict of resources and priorities with various departments during project launch.
8. Track tooling expenditures, engineering change expenses, and other project expenses according to the budgets.
9. Work with manufacturing engineering, R&D, and purchasing to submit Capex for management approval.
10. Work with overseas technical engineers and global program managers, when applicable, to secure support &
resources to ensure smooth project launch.
11. Identify and improve the areas of weakness in Program Management Procedures
12. Identify future product needs to maintain or grow Dayco’s position in the marketplace.
NATURE AND SCOPE: (SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS OF JOB AND WHAT THE JOB IS ALL ABOUT)
The job demands creativity, open-mindedness, and excellent organization and communication skills. In addition,
the incumbent must be an outstanding team player, willing and able to assume many roles. The job demands
flexibility, regular travel (to customers, manufacturing plants, Dayco technical centers, etc.) and overtime, and
often exposes the incumbent to high-pressure conditions resulting from a sense of corporate urgency.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS:
Internally, the Program Manager will be routine contact with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers,
Product Development Engineers, Applications Engineers, Account Managers, Finance Accountants, Cost
Estimators, and other functions
Externally, the Program Manager will be in contact with customers, and others on an as needed basis.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
? BS in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering required.
? 5 years of related industry experience (including 3 years of Program Management experience). Performance at
a high level is required.
? Must have outstanding knowledge of Program Management
? Outstanding inter-personal skill in conflict management and team building
? Must be highly proficient in written and oral communications (Mandarin and English), and time management.
? Must have a high level of understanding on general engine functions, drawing GD&T, TS16949, and APQP.
DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:
The Program Manager must be able to set his/her own priorities in order to complete tasks required to launch
projects in a timely manner and will be expected to help resolve priority conflicts within the Program Management
& Application Groups and cross-functional teams.
