General

1. The Advanced Quality Engineer is supporting the Product- or Development Engineer and the Project manager the integration of quality in the New Product Development (NPD) Process.

2. The AQE work as the core team member, join the gate review and design review, provide expert opinion from quality view.

3. The AQE starts as early as possible in the NPD process defining together with the project manager the required (quality) deliverables for the specific project.

4. Risk assessment and risk management during the entire project will be a driver for applying tools like FMEA and Critical Parameter Management.

5. Each Engineer is responsible for the quality of his/ her own project. Therefore, auditing the quality of execution of the NPD process is important for the improvement of the Engineering Quality.

6. To integrate the Voice Of the Customer (VOC) into the design, the AQE will facilitate Engineers in the use of tools like QFD and Concept selection.

7. The AQE will have the necessary contacts with the customer, the supplier, the sales organization, the product managers, etc. in regards to quality aspects, during the NPD process.

8. The AQE group has a supporting role within engineering: they initiate improvements to the NPD process itself, evaluate and advise on Customer Quality Agreements, specifications and are important as facilitators of many Six Sigma and other management tools.

9. The AQE is required to develop him-/herself in the latest quality-, six sigma- and management tools and methodologies.

10. Support compliance to LEANPD and Tyco Quality Management policy (ISO-9001 etc) for new product development.

Note: The AQE group is supported by Q-systems and/or Q-operations on relevant issues such as customer complaints or supplier development.

Some specific tasks

The AQE is active in:

1. the application of statistical techniques like MSA, DOE, SPC, PCS, ..

2. monitoring and facilitating risk assessment during the whole NPD process.

3. making available audit reports to support the Stage Gate Review Process

4. follow up of customer requirements by analyzing, and defining the CTQ's (critical the Quality characteristics) together with the engineers, making sure these are addressed in the product and process development as well as in production.

5. the creation of a concept Control Plan and the planning of the required inspection tools, gauges, etc. Also reviewing the quality inspection plans prepared by Q-operations as well as requesting and analyzing GR&R studies.

6. being involved in releases of products and tools, internally and externally.

7. cooperating in the selection of new suppliers, or in the assignment of new products / processes to suppliers.

8. supporting the product / process releases towards the customer (in case of customer-specific product) (e.g. PPAP),

9. suitable support in the pre-production phase, incl. the NPI Process( transfer to Q-operations).

10. Follow up of improvement action plans with manufacturing sites or suppliers

Qualifications:

1. BS degree in engineering or science.

2. 7 years experience as a Quality Engineer with a manufacturing organization or product

development. Product development experience is preferred.

3. Must be capable of applying and coaching engineering in the use of: SPC, FMEA, DOE.

LDFSS "Green Belt" or "Black Belt" certification is required.

4. Experience with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software.

5. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks and be flexible enough to handle multiple

high profile development projects.

6. Ability to take initiative and maintain good written and oral communication in a international

team environment.
