Project Manager (Datacomm Core Team Leader)


Overview
The Core Team Leader is a “Mini General Manager” of one or more New Product Development projects within the Datacomm Industry group. The candidate should possess strong leadership and project management skills. The candidate should also have a strong engineering background along with good working knowledge of connector manufacturing technologies (molding/stamping/plating/assembly).


Responsibilities
- Total ownership of one or more New Product Development projects in the Datacomm industry group
- Unite the Core Team toward a common objective
- Owns the project schedule and P&L
- Manage resources
- Ensure the project is “staffed for success”
- Negotiate with functional managers and Project Approval Committee (PAC) to alleviate resource constraints as needed
- Coach and assist the Core Team Members in their professional development
- Serve as focal point for the project
- Communicate with senior management
- Build a coalition of support
- Ensure that their concerns are being addressed
- "Discipline the System"
- Ensure that the team is operating according to the development process
- Keep people focused on the matters at hand as well as their area of responsibility
- Be proactive, get things done, take action
- Resolve conflict and controversial issues


Qualifications
- Leadership proven skills in leading, developing, and managing teams
- Demonstrated ability to create effective project plans
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to connector products
- Ability to anticipate problems and resolve them before they become significant issues
- Knowledge of a matrix organization and how to navigate it
- Project management expertise to drive time to market balanced with commitment to quality
- Ability to manage uncertainty
- A conceptual thinker with strong attention to detail
- Understand design for manufacturability (DFM)


Experience & Education Required
- Minimum of 5 years engineering or project management experience preferably in an interconnect industry
- Minimum of 5 years engineering experience involved in product design, development, or manufacturing of electrical connector products
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent
- Excellent Chinese and English communication skill to interact with a cross-functional global team
