职位描述
PURPOSE:
Paid apprenticeship with an emphasis in becoming a highly proficient packaging designer
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creation of all phases of design work. Conduct compression analysis for box performance evaluations (CAPE, Truck Fill, and Board Combinations).
Aid in the coordination of ordering, scheduling, and inspection of all samples required from both internal resources and out sourced service providers.
Coordinate the production of (in house) samples, mockups, etc. Create and post specifications to web based technical communication tools for implementation.
Create manufacturing specifications that are clear, efficient, and ready to be manufactured.
Accomplish performance testing of packaging designs when required.
Create duplicate designs for additional sizes or family of designed product.
Assist all other members of the technical team as needed. Coordinate with GPS members and global technical teams.
SCOPE
This section explains the degree of supervision that is received by the employee as well as the decision making and contacts internally and externally that the employee would have on a regular basis. The scope also speaks to the nature of the work being performed, the manner in which the incumbent receives information and how they do the work (i.e. operating from established and well-known procedures, or given work in objective oriented terms).
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
- Packaging Engineering Degree from a major university with a special interest in fiber based packaging design and manufacturing
- Must have completed some practical course work in manufacturing or CAD
- Any structural package design experience with exposure to corrugated and/or folding carton manufacturing is a major plus
- Must have superior verbal and written communication skills
- Must speak English
- Mandarin and Cantonese speaking a plus
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively across cultural and organizational lines
- Must have good organizational skills and attention to detail.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software
- Knowledge of structural design software (Artios CAD, Workbench, AEI, Auto Cad, Score, etc) a plus
- Exposure to corrugated and/or folding carton design, production and product development
- Understanding of major print processes a plus
