Summary:
The person in this position should expect to travel up to 90% of the time. She/he would provide technical assistance for electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. She/he needs to be a self starter and have the ability to work by themselves. She/he must be able to use test equipment, i.e. micrometer, voltmeter, calipers, etc. Have the ability to read and troubleshoot Hydraulic and electrical schematic and blueprints. This position has a physical obligation that requires the person to install new machines, replace failed components, and perform the required duties that include cleaning the machine. The interface with the customer requires this person be able to handle all interaction in a professional manor. The Field Service Engineer is the front line representation of MegaFab and must always consider the information being presented in the best light of MegaFab.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
- Converse intelligently and tactfully on the telephone and in person.
- Read and understand mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic drawings and schematics.
- Be knowledgeable of assembly, operation, and troubleshooting techniques for all products that MegaFab has produces and is producing.
- Must be familiar with CNC parts programming practices.
- Provide prompt, accurate technical assistance for customers and other Field Service Engineers.
- Travel up to 90% of the time supporting machine service calls.
- Must be experienced in the use of personal computers. Computer literacy is a must. The controls become more sophisticated each day. A computer degree is not needed (though welcome). At least rudimentary understanding of networks and system architecture (hard drive replacement, making backups, etc.) are a plus.
- Write technical correspondence to document problems, recommendation, and trip reports.
- Mechanical skills are important. Most of the work that needs done is mechanical (especially during repairs). The prospect must be willing to “get dirty” in order to work on our products. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems required.
- A manufacturing background really helps. Having seen (or ran) plasma tables, shears, press brakes or other machines would have the person already familiar with metal working. We then just have to take their knowledge and build on it. Even someone who has run (or worked with) Amada, Finn, Trumpf or any other machine can be taught “our way”.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are a representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
An associate’s degree from a 2 year college or technical school in the electrical or industrial computer field is preferred with some work experience in servicing industrial equipment.
Language Skills:
She/he should have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and the ability to speak effectively to customers (in the language of the country assigned) as well as the service department (English). So English would be important for US team to be able to assist in training and be able to support your work.
Physical / Mental Demands:
The physical Ability of this job vary per service visit but at a minimum the person must be able to lift up to 50lbs (23KG), climb and maneuver in a safe manor on the equipment, operate some power tools, and perform an acceptable level of manual dexterity with hand tools.
She/he must concentrate mental and visual attention on work coordination and present issues to customers in an accurate and professional manor with consideration of the best light of MegaFab.
Work Environment:
The work environment varies widely with the customer’s facility. Each customer location must be left in better condition than when arriving at the location (i.e. clean it up, wipe it off, make it look better than it did when you arrived at the service call).
