DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS
JOB TITLE: QAULITY MANAGER
REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
SUMMARY: Develops, manages, and accountable for all aspects of the Quality Management System. Manages the planning, development and implementation of the Quality program. This includes evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications which contribute to the overall objectives, to maintain an effective quality program including continuous quality assurance, quality control and product/process/supply base quality improvement.
ESSENTIAL TASKS & DUTIES:
? Design and implement long-term progressive Quality strategies and objectives that support the company's Vision, Mission, Values, and long-term objectives.
? Drive quality through the complete product life cycle. Develop metrics (internal/external) including the company's cost of quality and identify strategies to decrease the cost of quality while improving reliability and delivery times.
? Lead the Corrective Action Process.
? Identify, develop, implement, and administer appropriate policies, procedures, and workflow in accordance with industry standards and company strategies.
? Manage regular internal and external audit procedures to ensure effectiveness and appropriate implementation.
? Ensure Quality programs reflect or exceed requirement of customer, legislation, and relevant regulatory agencies including but not limited to the BSI, DNV, LR etc.
? Administer and update Quality Programs, maintaining continued compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
? Directly manage the UK's Return Process and lead corrective action planning process at the UK business, specifically UK Supply Base, through the entire supply chain.
? Ensure appropriate controls in place to measure and audit Supplier Performance and Assessment.
? Work cross functionally with purchasing, operations, manufacturing engineering, and logistics.
? Lead and conduct operational excellence activities to improve the company operational performance, not only in quality improvement, but also the workshop housekeeping, supplier performance improvement, and the production productivities improvement.
? Conduct company level operational excellence training program
Team Management
? Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organisation's policies and applicable laws, including Health and Safety, Investors in People, Sarbanes Oxley, Quality Standards, Environmental Policy, Ethics Policy.
? Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; employee development; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining, employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
? Develop sales skills, through effective management and coaching.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
? Respond to change productively and other duties as required.
? Part of global quality team with colleagues in US, UK and China.
Knowledge & Skills:
? Knowledge and understanding of Knowledge of six sigma and lean principles to integrate into operating procedures and mentoring of management staff.
? Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills; written, oral, and inter-personal.
? Ability to multi-task, work independently and employ effective time management skills.
? MS Office experience required and working knowledge of MRP is a plus.
? Knowledge of the valve, casting and machining industry is a plus.
Education Minimum Requirements/Equivalent:
? Bachelor's degree in quality, manufacturing processes, or related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
? Experience in a quality/manufacturing industry.
? Experience managing quality policies, practices, programs, and regulations.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The individual will be working in an non-smoking administrative office environment with moderate PC work, light to moderate communication via phones and multiple interruptions. Routine visits to the production area are required. Noise level encountered will vary from minimum to heavy machining. There may be some exposure to chemicals and fumes. (Refer to the COSHH Folder in this department for specific details regarding chemical exposure.) There will be moderate travel within the UK and potentially internationally up to 20% of time. The job holder must hold a current driving licence.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires frequent walking and sitting with occasional standing, stooping, crouching and reaching/working overhead including stairs to climb. Occasionally, there is pushing and lifting/carrying of boxes weighing 35 lbs. Average vision and hearing is sufficient.
