Description
The General Manager is responsible for capabilities with regard to manufacture, storage and shipping of products, including procurement of raw materials. The position has accountability for the overall competitiveness and efficiency of manufacturing processes and systems. The General Manager directly manages functions of the China manufacturing plant, including the plant functions of engineering, procurement, planning, etc. This position will be directly in charge of the Dongguan, China manufacturing facility and will report directly to the U.S. Vice President of Operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Leads the execution of manufacturing strategies in collaboration with company
business goals. Assists the Asia Operations Manager in creating a manufacturing strategy for the Dongguan China facility
2. Ensures consistent management of costs and the development/execution of
improvements in manufacturing productivity and effectiveness.
3. Ensures development of inventory policies, procurement strategies, production plans, and compliance tactics for China operations.
4. Directs the site leaders’ activities, ensuring prioritization of key business goals.
5. Accountable for the overall fiscal responsibility of the Dongguan facility. Coordinates and oversees the annual budgeting process.
6. Creates alliances with external vendors when appropriate to reduce cost, ensure
continuity of supply, improve quality, reduce lead times, etc.
7. Sets goals for direct reports, handles performance reviews, gives regular coaching and feedback
8. Creates organizational strength through personal development plans, succession
planning, and performance coaching.
9. Ensures facilities and processes meet regulatory requirements and customer
expectations.
10. Leads manufacturing capacity utilization to meet business requirements.
11. Leads continuous improvement in equipment/process efficiency to meet business
requirements (cost, safety, quality, service).
12. Ensures products safely produced as specified and shipped on time.
13. Drives continued improvement in site leadership team capabilities
14. Drives cross functional collaborations to achieve goals/strategic objectives
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
Position reports to U.S. Vice President of Operations
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in electrical, manufacturing or mechanical engineering
from an accredited college or university is preferred
Professional Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a track record of executing improvements and
achieving results in manufacturing assignments. He/she will possess the analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend process
improvement opportunities. The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years of experience in a low volume/high mix environment and has managed multiple functional areas. The candidate must have a working knowledge of Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain Management functions. In addition, the successful candidate will have broad financial knowledge for asset management and budgeting. Previous experience in the lighting industry is desired.

? Possesses strong analytical skills and the ability to expand capabilities in accordance with business changes;
? An industry background in lighting or other electrical manufacturing
? Strong project management and organizational skills;
? Experience in plant and/or materials assignments with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and processes;

? Excellent verbal and written communication abilities;

? Ability to speak fluent English preferred
