Firmware Engineer
The Firmware Engineer works in the Advanced Development Engineering with the objective to design and realize the firmware/software of wired Bus and/or wireless communication protocols for the Advanced Development projects targeted to smart connectivity solutions for Appliances.
His primary objective is to develop, coding and verify the firmware / software to fulfill the system requirement and specifications.
Job Description:
1. Develop the firmware to fulfill the system requirement and specification from customers and applications.
2. Maintain the system Spec document and version control.
3. Identify the right microprocessor and design the board to realize the required function together with the hardware engineer.
4. Safety and risk management of possible hardware, firmware, or communication failure or errors.
5. Create periodical high quality reports and discuss specific subjects or presentation in front of an international audience.
6. Establish good relationship with suppliers (existing/new) and drive their technology towards the AD Group needs. Extend the supplier pool of sensors and other components.
Requirements:
Education, Technical Qualification & Experience
1. Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Processing Technology, Automation or Computer Science. PhD is a plus.
2. 3+ years experience in embedded system design of wired bus protocols such as CAN, LIN, or wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, WiFi, ZigBee.
3. 3+ years hand-on experience in embedded system design of multiple microprocessors including ARM, 8051, Microchip, TI and various SOC etc.
4. Hand-on experience on Interface such as Ethernet, USB, IR, RS232, RS485, RS423, SPI, I2C, etc.
5. Software development on Linux/Android/CE or web-based application.
6. Hands-on experience in debugging together with hardware.
7. Experience in Analog / Digital Circuit design is a plus.
8. Vision and insight in the technology trend and a network of contacts in the area of work.
Personal Attributes & Competencies
1. Good inter-personal and communication skill.
2. Good in English (both spoken and written). Other international language is a plus.
3. Be interested in new technology and be fascinated in new discovery.
4. Ability to write high quality report and promote new ideas.
5. Team player and open-minded.
6. Experienced in working as part of global development teams.
