What is the Main Purpose of the Job?

The BG Head of Procurement Engineering will coordinate all Procurement activities across all the Categories and GBU's within a Philips Lighting Business Group worldwide. The Head of Procurement Engineering is covering I2M, M2O and O2C and is accountable for all BG related Procurement KPI’s such as BoM savings and GSRS. He/she has a particular understanding of the product context ‘End to End’ in a BG and delivers the BG strategy including the strategic cost management vision to the commodities. He/she owns the DfX concept for the BG and ensures alignment with all other functional disciplines within the BG to make this happen. The Head of Procurement Engineering is member of the BG MT and ensures that BG leaders can access all Procurement activities, including Commodity Management teams and O2C. The Head of Procurement Engineering ensures the engagement and early involvement of all relevant commodities.
Key Areas of Responsibilities (KAR) for this role



· Leads the Category Heads of Procurement Engineering;
· Meet all BG related Procurement Objectives/KPI’s (e.g. BoM Savings, GSRS, # suppliers)
· Achieves product cost reduction through value engineering/DfX and supply chain optimization in the BG;
· Acts as interface to the Commodity Cluster Leaders;
· Ensures BG relevant spend volume will be managed through the DfX concept;
· Responsible for talent management of the procurement Engineering function across Categories / GBU's in the BG;
· Being a BG-MT member, demonstrate leadership and vision to support the organizational BG objectives (short & long term)
· Ensures that BG Procurement Engineering related risks are controlled and mitigated;
· Builds and secures manufacturing capabilities and capacity at 3rd party (incl. lean Ops);
· Defines requirements and business drivers for supply strategy for in/outsourcing and components;
· Consolidates and defines BG requirements for procurement strategy;
· Aligns Product & Technology Roadmaps with suppliers (Aligned Supplier Product & Technology Roadmaps);
· Ensures early supplier involvement in Product Design Process;
· Manages the link between the new product introduction process with supplier selection (total cost of ownership, handshake with CT's);
· Secures S&OP linkage to component availability;
· Ensures development of cost roadmaps & linkage to margin management;
· Manages development of Target Cost model of products;
· Manages standardization & complexity reduction (concept improvement);
· Leads the Supplier Quality Managers who are related to single BG suppliers;

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Procurement Professional, At least 10 years of experience in Procurement, BPO and Supply Chain and ideally will have served as Procurement Professional for a global (multi business) technology company with annual revenues over 10 Bio Euro for at least 3 years time. With a proven track record of forming win-win partnerships with suppliers, this professional should bring both a strategic and “hands on” mindset and a proven track record in change management;

Global Experience, A globally minded leader, this professional will be at home doing global business across Europe, The Amercias and Asia. This person will be comfortable with diverse teams and should be culturally attuned to succeeding in a complex global environment;

Business Acumen, Must have the strategic capability to devise short- and long term strategies, balanced by the operational capability to implement them. It is critical that this individual has strong general business acumen and can play a key role on the broader senior leadership team. This professional must also be highly analytical, process driven and result oriented, with a bias for action;

Executing for results, The successful candidate will be a leader for change in Procurement strategy and process and must be capable of creating sense of urgency. This individual must have the ability to break down complex problems, systematically identify causes and develop solutions. This includes and ability to adapt to altering situations, to persist despite setbacks, and to get things done;

Leading teams, This professional must be a motivational leader who engages the team through enthusiasm and excitement about the business. The successful candidate will be expected to recruit and retain highly talented individuals and manage in a challenging highly global environment and also have the attributes of a mentor or teacher who can develop a performance-oriented team and build a strong bench of talent;

Strong Communicator / Influencer, This individual must be highly collaborative and able to work effectively outside the sphere of direct influence, have strong leadership skills and be able to communicate clearly with a wide range of constituents in a highly matrixed organization. In addition, the BG Head of Procurement Engineering must have a sharp business mind and be capable of interacting with senior leaders throughout the sector to ensure credibility and collaboration between the Procurement organization and the business and have a reputation for unimpeachable integrity.
