Role description:


Purpose of the role:


The role is based in the Industry Business Development team and involves working closely with the CNHK Pharma and Healthcare Industry Leaders to develop industry value propositions, enhance our firm’s position in the market and help to increase our win chance on major and strategic opportunities. Be the “right hand” person of our Industry Leaders to create an impact in the market by driving strategic areas and positioning PwC as No.1 Leader in the market. The Industry BD driver will also work with our Industry Leaders to drive growth in the priority clients in the industry across the region.



There are three main dimensions to the role:


  • Pharma and Healthcare Industry - Strategist and support (70% of time);
  • This includes playing a key role to develop annual strategic plan; drive the industry team to go to market with strong propositions and credentials and to achieve above firm growth. Drive collaboration across all LoS, industries and functional teams to increase awareness and facilitate execution of Firmwide and Industry strategic initiatives both internally and externally to target client segments;
  • Industry Priority Clients management & relationship building (20% of time);
  • This involves working with GRPs, partners and industry teams to support them in building their business relationships, building networks within the firm to ensure the right expertise is brought together to meet the clients’ needs especially in priority clients, and also working closely with the CNHK Industry Leaders to determine areas of market focus and business development activities to bring to clients;
  • General BD initiatives (10% of time);
  • This involves supporting the overall Industry BD Lead to work on initiatives for the Industry driver community and overall BD team to ensure alignment, cross industry collaborations and other initiatives to maximize our value creation for the Firm.

  • CNHK Pharma and Healthcare Leaders;
  • CNHK Industry Business Development Lead;
  • CNHK Pharma and Healthcare xLoS Partners and Teams;
  • GRPs and account teams of Industry Priority Clients and Gamechangers accounts;
  • CNHK industry drivers and other BD programme drivers;
  • Business Development Regional Team Lead (BJ).




Objectives/ key responsibilities:



  • Pharma and Healthcare Industry - Strategist and support (70% of time);
  • Work with CNHK Pharma & Healthcare Leaders to develop and execute the business plan including strategic initiatives and programs in the region;
  • Support subject matter experts and others in connecting with clients through developing talking points and value propositions;
  • Manage reporting and regular meetings within the industry community;
  • Help track and monitor industry budget and planned activities;
  • Work closely with M&C to monitor key events, budget usage and thought leaderships throughout the year;
  • Take ownership to work with our client feedback team to drive completion rate and share client insights within the industry sector;
  • Industry Priority Clients management & relationship building (20% of time);
  • Support GRPs of selected priority clients to execute account strategy, maintain momentum and work with xLoS teams to drive teams to the client;
  • Ensure account infrastructure (eg. CRM, xLoS account teams, account plans) is in place and functioning appropriately;
  • As and when required, follow up on opportunities with clients to ensure proposals are submitted on time; appropriate expertise is being deployed and deadlines are being met;
  • Drive client feedback process together with Central Client Feedback team;
  • Push and track the delivery of the annual client planning workshop;
  • General BD initiatives (10% of time);
  • Manage industry reporting and requirements by overall and Industry BD team;
  • As part of the BD team, contribute to best practice and knowledge sharing;
  • Other strategic initiatives as required;
  • Key attributes, skills and experience;
  • Mandatory experience and skills.



Education:



  • Educated to at least degree level.




Work experience:



  • Understanding of the pharma and healthcare industry in China;
  • Understanding of effective account/relationship management/ opportunity management and pursuit processes;
  • At least 10 years’ work experience.




Personal characteristics/capabilities:



  • Fluent English and Chinese/Mandarin (speaking, reading and writing);
  • Outgoing personality with well-developed social and persuasive skills;
  • Flexible and adaptable;
  • Resilient and self-motivated;
  • Team player;
  • Good presentation skills;
  • Curiosity and hunger to learn.




Nice to have:



  • Existing network of contacts that can be leveraged;
  • Understanding of professional services firms (either through experience of working in one or by being a client of one);
  • Understanding of PwC;
  • Project management skills.
