Functionally responsible to the Sales and Marketing Director of CMP

The Resident Engineer is responsible for ensuring the specific OEM and 1 Tier customer is provided with an adequate and well coordinated Product Development Support Activity, for CMP′s Rubber to Metal products.

The Resident Engineer is located at CMP China or partial on the specific customer’s engineering facility and is responsible for providing the communication interface between the customer and CMP Spain/Germany, to ensure efficient application, development, prototyping and sample approval of the CMP components on specific vehicle or module programs.

The detailed responsibilities are:

1. Provide project management support for the specific vehicle or module on the suspension- or engine mount systems development process.

2. Ensure compliance with the customer specific procedures and documentation.

3. Set up the necessary E-Mail and CAD data exchange between the customer and CMP Spain to ensure continuous and efficient E-Mail and CAD data transfer.

4. Attend all relevant customer engineering meetings gathering the necessary technical and project specific data.

5. Be involved where necessary in the initial powertrain mounting/suspension system concept definition phase, considering alternative powertrain mounting/suspension solutions to achieve an optimum powertrain mounting/suspension system definition.

6. Attend kick-off meetings and liaise with the customer vehicle or module design on packaging issues, obtain and supply as applicable, the CMP product development activity with CAD powertrain/body and suspension packaging space information.

7. Be involved in the determination of compatible powertrain mounting/suspension system performance targets and supported by CMP Spain modeling data and product development activity input. Obtain customer acceptance of initial concept component performance specifications.

8. Work in close contact with the CMP Spain product development activity, support the detailed component design and FMEA design analysis and help produce design FMEA’s and process FMEA’s in conjunction with CMP product development and process engineering respectively

9. Present the detailed component/bracket designs to the customer powertrain mounting system and or detailed suspension component designs to the customer suspension group, along with weight and performance prediction as required.

10. Support the CMP Value Engineering/Analysis process in terms of product improvements and cost reduction.

11. Liaise between the customer and CMP/Spain/Germany to establish costs and timing for the various levels of prototype build and ensure components are supplied on time.

12. Follow up validation testing of component performance by CMP Spain.

13. Report the results of customer module, rig and vehicle testing to CMP Spain and liaise on ongoing component design iterations.

14. Support Product Development, Industrialization and Quality Management in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activity during the product development phases.

15. Monitor the project timing plan of the CMP Spain product development activity and ensure compatibility with the customer vehicle program timing plans.
