JOB PURPOSE:
The company is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Lead Transmission Design
Engineer, qualified to degree level in Automotive Powertrain (preferably transmission) Engineering and with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
Responsibilities:
? Define recruitment and skills development requirements of local engineering and business partner talent to grow a multi-discipline team in line with division strategy
? Take direct responsibility for commercial and technical delivery of projects / work packages and implementation of associated processes
? Lead technical aspects of the transmission design
? Co-ordinate local IT infrastructure and business management functions in line with Ricardo policies for all Design and Analysis requirements
? Develop and mentor the Transmission Design team
? Work closely with senior Engineering Function Group leaders across the Ricardo divisions to ensure consistency of engineering quality and delivery
? Define and manage the implementation of Quality and H & S standards
? Work in partnership with the business development to provide technical selling support in customer discussions and proposal development
Experience Required:
? Proven people development / mentoring skills esp. of Chinese engineers
? Experience in building and leading a technical, ideally multi-disciplined, team
? A proven ability in successfully delivering transmission design projects / significant work packages for production programmes
? Knowledgeable in all primary automotive transmission types
? Cultural awareness and an ability to make progress in a fast paced challenging environment
? Good (English) communication / presentation skills both internally and with clients at all levels
? Chinese language skills / cultural knowledge would be an advantage.
? The successful candidate must have a high level of self-motivation and be an enthusiastic team leader with the drive and determination to succeed. The candidate will be highly resilient and be able to cope with a rapidly changing environment and demanding client requirements.
