Core Responsibilities:

? This design engineer will support the mechanical development of functional test fixtures 

for sensing and touch modules, with responsibilities including: 

? Design and development of optical test fixtures, including integration of DUT into tester, 

electrical interconnect, and camera fixturing. 

? Development will primarily support existing test equipment, modifying design and 

quality control documents to fit new product changes. 

? Defining mechanical interface requirements for functional test fixtures 

? Documenting critical mechanical documentation to ensure quality and fixture GR&R. 

? On-site support, rapid-response issue triage and root cause analysis relating to mechanical 

issues including but not limited to: alignment, connection, cosmetic, quality issues 

? Overview fixture vendor site OQC and fixture acceptance, process review

Fixture design updates, design review and approval with fixture vendors

CM team bring up and cooperation on the ground

Generating dimensional and tolerance analysis to assure fixtures work by design ? Test 

fixture mechanical bring-up, debug, and qualification, and GR&R 

? Work closely with vendors to execute, replicate, and deploy test fixtures at multiple sites; 

liaison with HW/SW test fixture lead and operations team to execute mechanical test 

fixture strategy across supply base 

? Cross functional fixture design reviews to get buy in across Apple stakeholders 

? Communicating test fixture design/development status to management 

? Developing robust engineering verification, OQC, FAI and part maintenance plans to be 

executed by partner vendors and CM’s

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of hands-on design experience with factory 

manufacturing or test equipment in a high volume production environment. Direct experience 

with functional test fixture/equipment for consumer electronics products or modules is highly 

preferred. 

? 3D CAD experience required, NX preferred 

? Applied knowledge in flex circuits, printed circuit boards, high cycle life/high density 

interconnects, motors, actuators, fine pitch probing, etc.. is beneficial 

? Experience in consumer electronics industry 

? Scientific method, experimental process, root cause analysis 

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact 

with management, team members and external vendors 

? Teamwork: the candidate must be able to communicate well with cross-functional team 

members, be able to efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project goals, 

and contribute positively to the engineering community 

? Extensive travel to onsite China CM’s required ? Optical systems, camera alignment, is a 

plus
