Role & Opportunity:
Come and be an important technical contributor on the fast paced, high energy team recognized as one of the top 20 global supply chains. This Manufacturing & Repair team is responsible for managing manufacturing operations for IEB Consumer Products such as Surface, Kinect and Xbox. We are seeking qualified candidates for a Manufacturing Engineer position.
The responsibilities of this position are focused on the assembly, system integration and verification of hardware product. This role also includes development of requirements and evaluating different manufacturing solutions for functionality, cost, and volume. Preferred candidates will have an outstanding track record in delivering manufacturing processes that enables the delivery of compelling consumer electronic devices. This position is based in the Microsoft Asia Center for Hardware where the role will provide the technical support and innovation required to assure best in class manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Establish a project plan that covers; production & repair, process implementation and sustaining.
- Provides technical support to worldwide manufacturing and repair in support of continuous process improvement.
- Provide Mfg engineering support to Development, DFx and NPI teams
- Provides backup support for all mfg eng worldwide, assist on EV, DV, PV of new product
- Drive unresolved problems to the appropriate Development groups, Cooperate PMs, NPI, MTE and other groups
- Standardize manufacturing process across all sites
- Communicate to manufacturing team on process related failures
- Ensure proper processes and documentations at manufacturing and test operations
- Understand design changes and provide build support at factory
- Conduct targeted experiments at factory for mfg and quality improvement
- Drives implementation of best practices
- Drives continuous process improvement initiatives
- Approve and assists with implementation of procedures, process changes and/or ECNs
- Provides repair/defect feedback to Mfg and engineering as well as recommendations for product improvements where possible
- Frequent Travels to factory sites is required
Qualifications/Experiences Should Include:
- Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated work experience in manufacturing environment, including high volume manufacturing/repair experience.
- Experience on PCBA, and/or Box Build (System Integration) of electronics product is a must.
- BS degree or above in Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related field required or equivalent.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical data and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large projects/programs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large NPI projects
- Strong working knowledge of domestic and/or international business practices.
- Strong demonstrated ability to write, speak and present information effectively and persuasively across communication settings.
- Demonstrated experience in re-engineering efforts and statistical analysis such as Six Sigma.
- Demonstrated experience in ISO 9000 and quality reporting
- Self sufficient PC skills: Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, Outlook, etc.
