Role Summary/Purpose
responsible for system design and development of Human Centered Design (also known as human Machine Interface (HMI)) Requirements and Philosophy for civil aircraft. Mainly ensure the HMI philosophy of the Cockpit Displays is discussed, assessed and agreed with the customer’s HMI; part of a Customer Focus Team to provide technical leadership and serve as the primary customer interface for a large avionics systems project.regularly interface with customers, partner companies, suppliers, and othe
Essential Responsibilities
Provide consultation and technical direction to the engineering community on near term and longer-range projects with substantial business impact Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions Support other GE businesses, supplier, and internal/external customers Be a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty in order to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities. Provide engineering support, within one's specialty, to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company Function as program manager when appropriate Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers Develop and implement training modules as necessary
Qualifications/Requirements
At least ten years of technical and/or project leadership experience in Avionics or Aircraft Systems or related Product design and development. At least five years of experience working directly with the Human Centered Design or Displays design and development for aircraft. Familiarity with related industry standards, including ARINC 661, AC 25-11A, FAR 25.1302, FAR 25.1322.Experience coordinating and resolving HMI aircraft level system interface issuesPrior experience working directly with customers to define requirements, design and develop solutions to complex aircraft problems is required. Some working knowledge of the ARP-4754 Systems Development Process is essential as well as a familiarity of ARP 4761 – Guidelines and Methods for Conducting Safety Assessments. Some prior experience in designing and testing avionics systems for commercial aircraft platforms by demonstrating compliance to FAR Part 25. 1309, 1316, 1317, 1353, utilizing applicable Advisory Circulars, SAE documents, and other industry guidance material. Have a working knowledge of developing test plans, conducting test, and preparing certification reports. Have a working knowledge of the systems engineering life cycle including requirements definition, validation, integration, certification, safety analysis, and verification.Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Aeronautical, Electrical, Computer or Equivalent
