About the role
We are looking for a Technical Marketing Manager (Iron Ore) - China to lead and drive technical marketing and provide timely advice on product value, business and industry context to our pricing, sales operations, sales and market analysis teams and technical services to customers.
Iron Ore Sales and Marketing, RT Commercial is responsible for the distribution and placement of shipments of more than 330 Million tonnes per annum of Rio Tinto iron ore (RTIO) generating sales revenues exceeding US$18 Billion pa. The iron ore market continues to evolve with the competitive landscape becoming both more complex and fragmented. Understanding RTIO’s competitive strengths and then using this knowledge to drive superior margin performance through a combination of effective long term product placement and shorter-term tactical placement decisions is critical for continuing success, as the iron ore market transitions from being supply constrained to demand constrained.
This role is a great opportunity for a strong techno-commercial person who is passionate in driving excellence in technical marketing, in achievement of the overall business goals. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Technical Marketing, you will be: ?
- Leading Technical Marketing China team to play roles to contribute to business ?
- Leading technical engagements with customers across China ?
- Providing practical knowledge of iron ore product usage, to commercial and pricing teams. ?
- Analysing steel mills operation data and provide assistance to value in use (VIU) modelling work. ?
- Driving and providing assistance to research projects, including environment protection, De- phos, high Al2O3 slag etc.
- Conducting regular assessment of China environmental policy and advising its implication and impact on iron ore business.
- Providing advice on scrap usage implications for steelmaking BOF and EAF. ?
- Working with commercial teams to achieve maximum sales revenues across all sales channels.
About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (Master Degree) in a technical discipline including metallurgical/chemical/process/mining engineering.
- Strong leadership to manage team.
- Strong knowledge of China iron and steel industry
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging needs of the industry ranging from technical, products to environmental regulations etc.
- Strong knowledge of iron ore operations, ironmaking and steelmaking operations.
- Strong command of English language, verbal and written
- ? PhD in a field related to iron making, steel making or iron ore mining
- ? Experience working in an international setting and has a global view on the market
