BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
Direct responsibility for unit production including manufacturing (fabrication, glass-lining, machining, and assembly), planning, facility management, quality and Safety/Environmental. Provides overall leadership to XXX China production facility which consists of one plant with current annual turnover circa USD12M. The scope of the responsibilities will fast evolve along with the XXX business and organization development in China in coming years.
Monitors performance to established goals and objectives, and delivers positive results with respect to on-time, cost-effective, high-quality products and services. Establishes, challenges, and mentors teams for process improvements and monitors their positive impact on business results, develops, motivates and retains talented staffs. Partners with appropriate executive teams to further developmental leadership, LEAN practices, and operations process improvement. Develops and implements business initiatives and strategic objectives in alignment with the business plan. This individual must be a role model demonstrating integrity, quality mindedness, pursuit of excellence, and team building in all that s/he does.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
· Hires, terminates, evaluates performance, coaches, develops, motivates, delegates, and mentors employees;
· Establishes and continuously monitors production performance goals and objectives;
· Champions change initiatives that aim to restructure and upgrade the current operations;
· Sets clear expectations and monitors performance of direct reports, providing prompt, objective coaching and mentoring;
· Establishes positive employee relations through participative leadership.
Production Management
- Plans, organizes, and directs unit production activities in the context of a global organization vs. a purely local one;
- Improves profitability of the unit by driving cost reduction and efficiency improvement;
- Establishes production budget and manages team to meet or exceed plan;
- Develops and implements new processes in alignment with global PSG practices to ensure that best operating practices (BOP) are followed;
- Organizes and champions the unit's LEAN initiatives;
- Identifies opportunities to reduce costs through continuous improvement processes, leads cost control and cost saving initiatives/programs;
- Allocates resources to meet staffing requirements;
- Proactively communicates accurate information to local and Group management;
- Analyzes staffing requirements and matches employee skills to unit and business needs;
- Continuously displays strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a future-oriented business focus;
- Manages relevant cost centre budgets within the predefined/budgeted levels of expenditure;
- Collaborates with other internal functions including Finance, HR, Sourcing, and Sales to align endeavors in implementing production plans and supporting overall company objectives;
- Manages employee relations to ensure policy and culture alignment with corporate;
- Keeps and develops relationships with local authorities.

- On-time delivery: strive to achieve the eventual target of 100%;
- Inventory turns, improvement through introduction of LEAN principles and reorganization of manufacturing operations.
SPECIFIC CHARACTERISTICS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
The ideal candidate for the position will have demonstrated the following critical competencies and attributes:
- A well balanced production manager with strong technical skills and knowledge of manufacturing process, production planning, quality and people management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED AND PREFERRED:
- 8+ years of previous operations management experience with increasing responsibilities, out of which 3 or more years in a managerial position with an MNC manufacturing operation;
- Experience in project driven, made-to-order, non-standard manufacturing operations preferably with a fabrication component;
- Proven strength in delivering results to satisfy customer needs and improve costs, delivery lead time and quality;
- Documented results in implementing LEAN programs;
- Demonstrated success in developing staff capabilities and maintaining proper labor relations;
- Engineering degree or equivalent is required. Financial acumen is welcome, knowledge of cost accounting is essential;
- Good written and oral English is a must.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Communication skills to interact with others. Tolerance to eye and upper body stress associated with extended periods working with computer terminals. Routine office environment travel will be necessary.
